fathom
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 01:32 AM) Rowand's coming back?!?! Giants aren't going to be trading offensive players.

southsider2k5
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 08:33 PM) Giants aren't going to be trading offensive players. Are you trying to hint at the Dye for pitching deal?
southsider2k5
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 08:33 PM) AJ, what the hell? We never run, then we do against one of the best arms in the AL. I think he was trying to move up on the pitch in the dirt.
Jordan4life_2007
QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 08:33 PM) Ok, let's stop trying to run on Olivo. He's fun to watch behind the plate. Nice to see a White Sox farmhand succeed. Even if it is with another team.
fathom
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 02:34 AM) Are you trying to hint at the Dye for pitching deal? Well, if the Giants and Sox are trading, it's not for the Giants to get more pitching. I just pray that KW doesn't have soft spot for Jonathan Sanchez. Balta1701
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 06:34 PM) Are you trying to hint at the Dye for pitching deal? That's about the only thing the Sox could legitimately be talking about with the Giants...the Sox going in to selling mode.
southsider2k5
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 08:35 PM) Well, if the Giants and Sox are trading, it's not for the Giants to get more pitching. I just pray that KW doesn't have soft spot for Jonathan Sanchez. I don't see that happening with the Sox on this kind of a run.

caulfield12
Would they be willing to give up Lewis? Winn has been rumored to be coming here for 3-5 years, seemingly. How much money would we have to eat on Rowand's contract? Will the Giants subsidize ala the Thome trade? Who would we be willing to give up to save the money from the minors? Texsox
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 08:33 PM) You beat me by that much... Anyway...don't know anyone the Giants have that I would want to make us better this season except Rowand. And that'd be a silly trade. Hmm, Pods, A-Row, and Dye; where have I seen that before

Balta1701
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 06:36 PM) Would they be willing to give up Lewis? Winn has been rumored to be coming here for 3-5 years, seemingly. How much money would we have to eat on Rowand's contract? Will the Giants subsidize ala the Thome trade? Who would we be willing to give up to save the money from the minors? Frankly, trading any talent at all for Rowand would just be silly even if they were eating 1/2 of his remaining deal. fathom
Unless it's a superstar 2nd baseman, I am puzzled as to what KW would be looking to upgrade on this current team. No reason to get a CF with Quentin's likely return.

Balta1701
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 06:39 PM) Unless it's a superstar 2nd baseman, I am puzzled as to what KW would be looking to upgrade on this current team. No reason to get a CF with Quentin's likely return. And with our roster and minors as constructed, acquiring an infielder would just be silly. fathom
My prediction would be a Josh Fields for Cla Meredith deal. Padres were interested in Fields in the past, and rumor is Padres will be trading Kouzmanoff soon.
caulfield12
Would like to see the White Sox make a run at Fukudome again and see how much the Cubs would be willing to eat on that deal...we wouldn't have to give up much. Prefer Fukudome to Rowand in terms of those contracts and future ROI, but both would be high-risk moves...even if we have the financial flexibility. Don't dismiss the idea of KW going after Pierre with Manny back in LA. Ozzie has the love for Pierre from his Marlins days.
