mr_genius
QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 07:41 PM) My latest obsession is laughing at birthers. lol, they are more willing to accept an obviously fake Kenyan birth certificate than Obama's actual one that he released, or the fact that Hawaii's health department and GOP governor confirmed the authentic one (that he could release, but is ignoring them) exists. Do we have any birth certificate deniers at Soxtalk? If not, we need some.

For whatever reason, they tend to congregate at automotive forums. I stopped frequenting one that I've been at since 2002 because of how retarded it got. You could always browse freerepublic but your brain may implode to save itself from the pain. Kap's Kaperbole doesn't come close to the legitimate crazy of some people out there. Kap's Kaperbole doesn't come close to the legitimate crazy of some people out there. Funny, I was actually on freerepublic this afternoon reading birther comments and laughing at them. There was a poster who copied and pasted something from a poster named "realkenyan" apparently at another board, debunking the debunking of the "Kenyan birth certificate" and saying it's real. But the post was so obviously fake. Maybe if the guy had named himself "realkenyanhonestlyimnotarandomwhiteguyinkentucky" I may have bought it. I can't read freeptard posts that long though or my head starts hurting. Same thing happens if I read DailyKos too long too, actually. Huffpo comments are ok for a while but they get boring. I think I like Salon the best for now, I love it when they start arguing with the Drudge trolls.

StrangeSox
And you're getting more and more the echo chamber effect. One "side" or a certain ideology gets support in a forum/ blog, produces so much noise that it drowns out anyone else, and then they never here anything but other people that they agree with. If anyone tries to present an alternate opinion, they're quickly mocked and ridiculed.

At least the birther conspiracy only involves a handful of people trying to fake a citizenship. It has a lot of popularity outside of this country: A good take on the birther/ truther comparison http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/...tics_97748.html Nut jobs come in all stripes. BigSqwert
We did not have serious congressional representatives advancing the conspiracy theories of 9/11 or JFK, etc. How many Republicans have winked a "no comment" when confronted in order to keep from dissuading the minions, or worse introduced legislation in the spirit of the birther movement?
