NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 06:16 PM) Man, Danks was out forever, I hope it's nothing that lingers. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 07:17 PM) Danks singled in his first AB. Guess it didn't.
flavum
Charlotte scored 8 runs in the 2nd inning, so Q may get a 3rd at bat before coming out of the game.
flavum
2-3 for Quentin. He's done after 3 innings. He'll get five innings tomorrow.
CSF
Kanny just scored 5 in the bottom of the 4th to go up 6-0. So far, Dexter Carter has given up a hit, a walk & struck out 5 through 4 innings. After his last outing, that's a better step in the right direction.
flavum
If the Sox ever need another starter this year, I'd rather see Torres get a shot before Colon or Garcia. Torres had a great first half.
danman31
Tyler Kuhn is 13 for his last 19 in high-A. That's one heck of a streak.
flavum
Brandon Allen definitely in a slump at Charlotte. Hopefully the break will do him some good.
JPN366
QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 08:42 PM) Tyler Kuhn is 13 for his last 19 in high-A. That's one heck of a streak. Certainly a candidate for Future Sox hot and cold next week.
JPN366
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 06:16 PM) Man, Danks was out forever, I hope it's nothing that lingers. He looked fine playing long toss and pepper in warmups this past week.
JPN366
Am I the only person who finds it strange that KW Jr. only DH's?
CSF
Final line for D. Carter tonight: 8 IP, 1 run, 5 hits, 1 BB, 9 K's. Is this the start that finally gets him moved up to W-S?
chw42
Nice to see Q get some hits.

CSF
Danks goes 3/4 with a homer and a walk. Nice.
bighurt4life
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 06:49 PM) Am I the only person who finds it strange that KW Jr. only DH's? My guess is that it is so he can focus solely on hit hitting which by all accounts is his weakest tool.
SoxAce
Bristol nearly got no hit today. Only guy to get that hit... Miguel Gonzalez, who has been getting alot of buzz.
Dizzy Sox
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 10:12 PM) Bristol nearly got no hit today. Only guy to get that hit... Miguel Gonzalez, who has been getting alot of buzz. He also threw out three guys trying to steal and picked off another two. Not a bad day behind the dish. scenario
A few really good pitching performances tonight worth noting... Carlos Torres strikes again... 8 innings; 1 run on 4 hits; 9 K's and 2 BB's; lowers his season ERA to 2.30 Gregory Infante in his Winston-Salem debut... 5 innings; 2 runs on 6 hits; 2 K's and 1 BB in a losing effort. Dexter Carter... dominant... 8 innings; 1 run on 5 hits; 9 K's and 1 BB. Steven Upchurch with a quality start... 6 innings; 3 runs on 8 hits; 3 K's and 1 BB. Joucer Martinez... 7 innings; 0 runs on 3 hits; 4 K's and 1BB.
danman31
QUOTE (Dizzy Sox @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 11:26 PM) He also threw out three guys trying to steal and picked off another two. Not a bad day behind the dish. Yeah, good catch. That is a hell of a day. On the year he has thrown out 7 of 17, including his last 5. It looks like Griffith has trouble holding runners, they were 7/9 stealing off of him with Gonzalez behind the plate. Taking out Griffith, Gonzalez is 5/8. That's excellent, but he does have 4 passed balls in 7 games as a catcher. Also, has anyone else noticed that Gilmore has an astounding 25 errors this season? Wowzers.
