Buehrle>Wood
QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 07:44 AM) I love JD, but I dont think hes gotten to the "retire number" status just yet. Considering he might not be along much longer... I kind dont think he will ever get there either. He will however be remembered as one of our best OF ever. He's going to have to play a few more seasons, sure, but he'll likely have a multi-year deal with us after this year so that won't be a problem. We're in the midst of our most successful decade ever, and he's been pretty much the key in a World Series run as well as playing a huge part in another division title run. Assuming we win more, it becomes question how could we not honor him.
Dick Allen
QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 02:18 AM) I always have and always will love Paul Konerko. The man is responsible for the most excitement moment in my life as a sports fan, and he relived it today. I have NEVER bashed Paulie on this board and I never will. He is and will always be my second all time fave WS player (after Frank). You mean this Anytime anyone wants to boo Paulie or say he sucks, they should watch that. They will take it back. He amazingly heard boos at USCF in 2008 and some people thought they were justified. Wow. There is no doubt he'll be the last guy wearing 14 for the White Sox. chisoxfan09
I think we are all missing the obvious reason for Paulie's resurgence - he can relax now that Brandon Allen is no longer breathing down his neck. <sarcasm> Evera, I was going to start a seperate thread but remembered this had just been created. What happens to 1B after 2010? Do we resign Paulie to another 1-2 years (2nd optional) if he keeps producing (He will only be 34/35 for those 2 years and conceivably still have some gas left in the tank)? I know Allen was breathing down his neck but there are no clear cut future prospects for 1B hat I know f in the minors. If there are they are not noteworthy. Only other name that was kicked aroundalong with Flowers for DH/1B was Viciedo and that meant a move from 3rd if his defense does not improve. ANyone care to comment on this?? Kyyle23
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 12:04 AM) He's been great. I thought last year he had earned his stripes so well that he should NEVER have been booed. I wonder how the clowns who booed him feel now. He had an off year. He was not finished. Hes a stiff blah blah blah

greg775
It's fun to watch Paulie bat when he's on fire. If we were coming offf our WS year, right now Paulie would be an all star as well as Dye, Mark, AJ and either Bobby or Thornton. As it is we get one guy. What a joke.
