BearSox
I posted this in here because PHT gets more traffic than FutureSox and this way more people will notice it. The game begins at 1 PM Central and is on ESPN2. Tyler Flowers will be USA's Starting Catcher and bat 7th. Viciedo is the World Team's reserve 3B. HuskyCaucasian
So, has anyone on here seen Flowers catch? Care to give me a scouting report?
ThunderBolt
I'm almost as excited for this one as i am for the Sox game. Can't wait to see Flowers in action.

fathom
Haha, Flowers with a throwing error on the first play.
CSF
Flowers with a cannon arm according to Thorne. I thought there were questions about the throwing strength in his arm.
fathom
QUOTE (CSF @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 07:15 PM) Flowers with a cannon arm according to Thorne. I thought there were questions about the throwing strength in his arm. Thorne is an energetic announcer that has very limited knowledge about baseball. JohnCangelosi
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 01:23 PM) Thorne is an energetic announcer that has very limited knowledge about baseball. Anything interesting to report from our guys?
Heads22
QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 03:37 PM) Anything interesting to report from our guys? They don't like playing in the rain.
WhiteSoxfan1986
I always look forward to the Futures game, would suck to see it get rained out. They just had an update and it sounded like they would get it in though.
JohnCangelosi
Sorry, overseas right now, no access to ESPN. Didn't realize it was in a rain delay...

ThunderBolt
Yeah, this turned out to be pretty s***ty.
CSF
From ESPN after the end of the 2 million hour rain delay: 6:03 p.m. ET There will be baseball. How much, nobody is sure at this point. The announcement just came that the Futures Game will resume at 6:30 p.m. ET. The plan is still a seven-inning game … but there is a catch: No inning will start after 8:30 p.m. ET. So if they want to play seven innings, they better play quickly. --Nick Pietruszkiewicz
CSF
Flowers with a single up the middle in his first at bat. And it's raining again.
fathom
Flowers had a really impressive at bat. His swing looks like he'll be able to mash LHP.

ThunderBolt
Flowers looks really different then when i saw him in spring. How much weight has he lost?
maggsmaggs
I think Viciedo just grounded out to the pitcher, but I wouldn't know for sure with the Red Sox love fest going on. Edited July 13, 2009 by maggsmaggs
CSF
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 07:05 PM) I think Viciedo just grounded out to the pitcher, but I wouldn't know for sure with the Red Sox love fest going on. It's ESPN. Would you really expect anything else? Of course it sucks that you look forward to seeing Dayan's first at bat, and he goes after the first pitch. Come to think of it, he'll fit in just nicely with the big squad. Edited July 13, 2009 by CSF
CSF
And Viciedo air-mailed one past first. Sigh. All 3 of the Sox top position prospects with crappy defensive play today.
ThunderBolt
All Dayan needs to do is hit. I'll take a few errors for him to reach his offensive potential.
BearSox
This is stupid, why would they not let them play the whole 9 innings? It's no fun if they stop after 7. I don't love Flowers' set up at bat, but I don't dislike it either. Didn't get good enough of a feel for him. Viciedo, I saw 1 pitch. Jayson Heyward is worth the hype.
