knightni
1 year prorated $1 mil. Hell of a deal for Philly if Pedro can produce.
Balta1701
QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 02:41 PM) 1 year prorated $1 mil. Hell of a deal for Philly if Pedro can produce. Considering he spent 3 months saying he wouldn't sign for less than $5 million prorated, I think the deal says something about how much they expect him to produce. chw42
How fast is his fastball now? Can he still hit 90?
knightni
They're evaluating him more first by placing him on the 15 day-DL.
Balta1701
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 06:51 PM) How fast is his fastball now? Can he still hit 90? There were reports of him throwing in the low to mid 80's from some scouts who saw him throw in June. If he was hitting 90, he'd have had a good shot at the $5 million prorated he wanted, that's what he was throwing with the Mets.
Jordan4life_2007
Classic case of throwing s*** at the wall and seeing if it sticks (you don't sign a guy and stick him on the DL expecting him to make a big impact). Pedro is a name at this point. But at that price, he's worth a gamble. I couldn't disagree more in regards to this signing affecting what happens with Halladay. If the Phillies don't get him, it won't have a thing to do with this signing.

A rotation of Halladay/Hamels/s***who (? Happ? Moyer? Myers?) with Pedro coming out of the pen is a dangerous staff.
