Rumors are Gaborik and Marty are going to sign with the Kings. Also, Heatley looks to be going to Edmonton......Nothing on the Hawks front....

The biggest thing the Hawks will do is sign their own guys again...

The 300 Level said Gaboriks twitter is a fake. Also, Heatley supposedly rejected the trade to Edmonton. Hockeybuzz radio just said he went to sleep though before accepting or rejecting.

Sedin twins got locked up by the Canucks for 5 years @ 6.1M a season.

Heatley rejected a trade to Edmonton, and really if he's demanding a trade from Ottawa, it's a bit rich for him to reject that deal.

CHICAGO SUN-TIMES: reports Blackhawks forward Martin Havlat is willing to re-sign with the club to a pay cut provided he gets a long-term deal. GM Dale Tallon also negotiated with the agent for Nikolai Khabibulin, who could be moving on as the 'Hawks have Cristobal Huet under an expensive long-term deal, but the DAILYHERALD.COM'S Tim Sassone speculates Tallon's interest in Khabibulin suggests he's shopping Huet, possibly to Edmonton or Colorado as Sassone claims those two teams are at least listening to what Tallon is offering.

Roloson just became a FA, so Huet could be an option for Edmonton especially since they missed out on Heatley.

As for the Avalanche, dunno how much cap room they have, but they just re-sign Budaj for 1.2M, and let Raycroft go.

They were after Gustavsson the Swedish goalie also, but he's headed to Dallas or Toronto apparently.

Scott Burnside (10 a.m. ET): Don't assume Martin Havlat is going to hit the open market just yet.

Havlat's agent, Allan Walsh, and Chicago GM Dale Tallon were hard at it first thing this morning, trying to see if there was some common ground between the skilled forward and the Blackhawks.

Chicago has been looking at a one-year deal, while Havlat has been looking long-term. Complicating the issue is the fact that the Blackhawks have core players like Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Brent Seabrook and Duncan Keith to lock up in the next couple of years. That said, Havlat wants to stay in Chicago and the two sides are working to see if that goal can be reached.

If the two sides can't reach a deal, Havlat will be coveted by a number of teams looking to add an impact forward, teams like Montreal, which brought in skilled playmaking center Scott Gomez from New York on Tuesday.

So we trade Gordon to the Pistons and in return get Marian Hossa?

Seriously, though, if we land Hossa I will be very happy. If they can somehow ink Havlat as well, we've taken it to the next level. Hossa is an insane talent.

Until Toews, Kane, and Keith all have to leave next season......

They'd figure it out. There's a reason teams like Detroit never have to let any talent go... I don't know how, but it's there somewhere. Oh yeah, going over the cap, that's right.

Oh yeah, it's a hard cap in the NHL, you can't do it, that's right.

The Redwings baffle me then. Ha.

Supposedly they offered Hossa 8 years at 4 million per. I'd presume the Hawks will offer in the neighborhood of 5.5?

Havlat to LA 8 years 8 mil per. Dan McNeil show....No idea if its true

They can have him at that price. A part of me is glad we didn't resign him long term, because I get the feeling last year was a contract drive and that he gets back to being soft in a hurry.

I don't believe that last year was a contract drive, I think Marty wants to be a great player every year. However, you can't overlook the fact that in his 8 year career he has only played 80+ games once, and only played 70+ games three times. Furthermore, the three years previous to this season he missed significant time. I love Marty and think he is truly a gifted hockey player, but he's not deserving of that kind of money.
