kind of?

I was being nice.

The only thing I'd have a problem with is the fact that I can't look off in a distance and estimate kilometers or see an object and say about how many centimeters it is. But that's only because feet and miles are all I know and I'd just have to get used to the change.

I really don't know why though, once you learn how the Metric system actually works, the English system actually seems kind of stupid.

Oh, it's ridiculous.

But it is so ingrained in our country (and Liberia!) that it would be so hard to change to what literally every other country uses. Plus factor in our general arrogance, laziness and unwillingness to conform and I just feel people would put up such a major fuss over it that the program would stop.

The only way it will ever work is if we start teaching kids about it starting in kindergarten so they grow up with it. But for everyone, adapting would be a major annoyance.

So far that isn't working for soccer either.

Anyone over the age of 12 riding their bicycle on the sidewalk should get an instant stick to the spokes.

Though I'm not a parent, I doubt I'd want my 13 year old riding his/her bike in the streets these days...people are idiots, they don't pay attention to the road (they're busy texting), and just...hell no to that.

I have a list of fractional/decimal equivalents taped to the side of my monitor. It's much easier to use a base-10 system like metric since that what we use for just about everything else.

I think we should convert all measures to Base 36. Takes up less bytes.

I am a parent and I, along with my 14 month old son, have almost been knocked over on at least 3 occasions by adults/kids riding on the sidewalk. There is one caveat...REALLY busy streets. Then, I can see upping my limit to 14 year olds.

Hmm, I never heard of a Black, Jew, or Mexican eating a small child. You learn something new every day, thanks longshot

As for my homework, I worked for Pet Rescue, and my friend ran a Pit rescue herself. I have plenty of cases right in front of my face that proved my opinion to me. I also know a girl in Carbondale who is going through pretty intensive reconstructive surgery because she was mauled by a few pits that escaped their yard. Not fighting pits, just pits.

So, your teacher and my teacher are giving us different grades

I did A LOT of research when I adopted mine because I believed those stories. In 9 out of 10 stories in the media that mention "pit bull attacks" the dogs in question are not actually pit bulls. The media (and most average people) just assume them to be and the stories grow from there.

According to the American Canine Temperament Testing Association, 82.5%of the American Pit Bull Terriers that took the temperament test passed, compared to a 77% passing rate for all breeds on average. In the test a dog is placed in a series of confrontational situations. The first sign of aggression or panic is a failure of the test. Pit Bulls have achieved the fourth highest passing rate of all 122 breeds tested. Click here to view an article on the new Alabama Supreme Court's ruling that there is no genetic evidence that one breed of dog is more dangerous than another.

It is estimated that there are 60,000 Pit Bulls in the City of Chicago alone. This number is so high because people are breeding them for the wrong reasons. Most of them are living in hostile surroundings. It is an amazing testimony to the breed that although 95% of these animals suffer abuse/neglect, we rarely hear of any problems. One analogy is, if there was a sudden increase of people being injured by red cars, would we ban red cars? No! common sense would dictate that red is more popular color choice.

The American Temperament Test Society, Inc. (ATTS) is a professional organization that objectively tests the temperaments of various dog breeds.

They do this by methodically exposing members of a breed to a series of confrontational situations, then measuring their reaction. The more aggressive the reaction, the lower the score the dog receives. The score is based on the percentage of dogs in a breed that passed the test:

Here are some of the most recent results available. We’ve included some widely considered “most friendly” (like beagles and poodles) and some labeled “dangerous” (like Rottweilers, German Shepherds, and of course, pit bulls.

Warning: you will be surprised by the results!

ATTS Scores by Breed

Afghan: 72%

Australian Shepard: 79.2%

Beagle: 78.2%

Cairn Terrier: 70.7%

Chihuahua: 70.6%

Cocker Spaniel: 81.5%

German Shepherd: 82.8%

Golden Retriever: 83.6%

Labrador Retriever: 91.1%

Rottweiler: 82.3%

Toy Poodle: 80.9%

Yorkshire Terrier: 80.0%

Now, compare these to the pit bull breeds:

American Pit Bull Terrier: 83.4%

American Staffordshire Terrier: 83.3%

Staffordshire Bull Terrier: 93.2%

For this study, the ATTS evaluated more than 25,000 dogs and more than 200 breeds. The average score for all breeds together: 81%. As you can see, when it comes to having a reliably friendly temperament, the pit bull breeds well exceed the average!

I hate them. They are ugly. they are annoying sounding, and seriously, do people really enjoy getting slapped in the heel every time you take a step?

Solution: Don't wear them. NEXT!
