bmags, IIRC you're a Mamet fan. Have you watched 'Edmond' with William H. Macy? Curious to hear your thoughts.

Damn, no. And unfortunately, it will be difficult to any time soon.

Do they have NTSC or PAL in Brazil?

You could get one cheap on Amazon (pun!).

I just avoid all concessions when i go to movies anymore. It really is absolutely ridiculous the amount they charge you for the quality of food you recieve(and I am talking hot food like hot dogs, popcorn, pretzels, nachos as well as the fountain drinks, which apparently all movie theatres agreed no longer need carbonation and require double the syrup....for every flavor and brand).

Going to a movie seems just as expensive as going to a baseball game.

We have a nice small theater in my town.

First run films, $5-6 tickets, self serve popcorn and pop, free refills. $3.00 matinees.

Only downside, they don't always get the blockbusters right away.

I'm about 2/3 of the way through the BBC miniseries State of Play. It's really really really good.

Political thriller, well plotted, well acted, well directed. Simply great. Hopefully the end won't be bad.

Now, lost, what were you expecting, honestly?

A bunch of s*** blowing up and being crushed and a lot of people dying. Which happened. Not much else to talk about though except that it was about 45 minutes too long.

The Loma in Coloma, MI is like that...really old school but I dont think its self serve popcorn anymore.

On a side note I love movie theatre popcorn more than anyone but I must have some sort of allergy to it because it makes me sick for atleast 24 hours even if I eat just a handful.

Saw "The Blindside" last night. Thought it was fantastic. Sandra Bullock was looking better than I have seen her in a while.

the book >>>>>>>>>>> the movie

There's no chance I'm going to see the movie after reading the book. It looks like they basically cut the book in half and focused solely on Michael Oher's story, which is a great story but it's made so much better when written alongside the importance of left tackles in the NFL today and how the league got to be that way.

You live in an area that has cold weather which requires you to wear a jacket. In case of an emergency, that jacket can also be used as a shopping bag. Bag of muchies in one sleeve+tall bev in the other+matinee price for the movie= $11.00 tops. If you're on a date, you're hosed.

I'll just say it, women have horrible taste in any kind of entertainment. Movies, television, books, and music.

The real problem is that the ones who have good taste are rarely the attractive ones. A friend of mine says that a sure sign that a band sux is when hot chicks show up to their shows.

One exception to that rule was The Afghan Whigs.

They had the hottest women imaginable coming to their shows, and they were a great band.

Finished the BBC serial State of Play.

Basic synopsis: Young guy is killed in what is initially thought to be drug related professional hit; around that time a researcher for an up and coming politician dies from falling onto the Tube tracks. Turns out politician has been "shagging" the researcher. From there it turns into a an interesting (and cynical) conspiracy theory about media interest and corporate interest in government. Nice twist ending that was surprising, yet made sense.

Awesome, awesome, awesome. It's long ( a total of 6 hours) but well worth the time. Really good. Netflix it.
