People sat through the Lord of the Rings movies just fine. I tend to believe less that 1.5 hours is the cut-off for the regular movie-goers attention span and more that the business side, again, doesn't want to pony up the extra budget money, and/or that there just isn't enough directing talent out there to make a good 3, 4, 5 hour movie that people won't mind sitting through. I'm with you, that movie was really good and i like the "cameo" roles by Guy Pierce, David Morse, Ralph Fiennes, and Evangaline Lilly. I still think he'll eventually make something really fantastic. I'm not sure if this film will be it, but it seems like it's a step in the right direction.
