Anderson had a chance to earn his role, he didnt.

That leaves it up to the manager to decide, and Ozzie made his choice.

Anderson has earned his role. He's a backup outfielder who plays very good defense and doesn't hit well, but at least occasionally can swing the bat a wee bit. He's a better offensive and defensive player than DeWayne Wise, he hits right handed pitching better, he's younger, and the only thing he doesn't do that Wise does is occasionally steal a base.

Anderson is actually pretty quick on the basepaths, though Wise can actually steal and BA really doesn't do that well.

Its not about any sort of logical argument. At all. Its a personal thing - some combination of not liking BA's attitude, or Ozzie liking Wise, or whatever.

Ozzie is not the GM. This was Kenny's decision. And the logic isn't that hard to figure out. BA has an option left. If Carlos comes back and aggravates the injury, or if Pods gets dinged up in CF, than Anderson can come back up. It's not likely Wise will get picked up, but he might, or he might refuse his assignment. This is just to have some depth, for the next couple of weeks, to see how things go.

Hopefully, Kenny can acquire a bench outfielder better than BA or Wise.

I guess Ive never seen why Anderson has gotten so much love on this board.

He had opportunities, Im not about to cry over a player who hit .200 so far in July. Sure he may be a better defender than Wise, but its not such a disservice that it deserves this much attention.

I agree Anderson is a pretty lousy hitter. I also agree he had his chances to be a starter and failed. I also agree that he had a chance to earn his role and didn't. But Dewayne Wise has earned nothing and has underperformed Anderson in every category.

I agree it's Ozzie's choice to make and he made it. I just don't understand why he chose the inferior of the two choices.

This makes sense only if the sox have nothing close to as good as Wise in their minor league system. I find that hard to believe.

You must be talking about Wise, as he is the player batting almost .200 so far in July. Almost is the key word there, as he isn't even batting .200 (he's at .196). Anderson is batting .238, which really isn't even that close to .200.

I guess Joe Mauer is only batting .300 this year so far.

Glad to see Q! back

not happy to see wise still around.

one game makes the difference in this division and wise isn't a difference maker on either side of the lines.

Say that when he misplays a key play in the 8th or 9th inning of an important game in September.

People are acting like I actually have a horse in this race.

I just dont think that Anderson has done enough to warrant outcry at his demotion. For all we know its because Anderson refuses to listen to the coaching staff.

Its just so predictable that there is going to be uproar about Anderson.

From what I can tell Ozzie likes to win, and hes not going to lose just to spite Brian Anderson.

So good news and mediocre news. Wise should have been sent packing.

There’s no rationale for having Wise over BA on this team. Honestly, I don’t give a damn about this option business. This isn’t a business thing, this isn’t a team-oriented thing, and this is all on Ozzie and his affinity for Wise. Break it down this way: What does Wise offer to this team that BA doesn’t? Speed? Hardly. Defense? Not even close. Hitting? Push. Patience? Not a chance. This is bulls***, and almost unforgivable, there’s not another team in this league that would carry Dewayne Wise, but the Chicago f***ing White Sox. I love this team, but sometimes it’s hard to understand just what’s going on these peoples head’s

This is a bad move. With Quentin/Pods/Dye in the OF you need to have a defensive guy that can come in and replace Q. Why because we need to keep Q's foot healthy. Plus, we have Pods who isn't that great in CF.

So why wouldn't we late in games sub in our best defensive CF (BA) while moving Pods to LF? Makes a ton of sense to me.

Oh and lets remember, I've not clamored for BA to be the starter, I've said he's a s***ty hitter but when we are comparing him to Wise the better decision hands down is Brian Anderson on your bench.

I could care less that they sent Anderson down. But for the love of god, at least have someone who doesn't wear his mitt on his head as our 4th OF. Wise was a terrible defensive OF last year, and this years its more of the same. I would rather they trade for someone who can catch a ball, and ditch wise as well. Because trotting Wise out into the OF late in games as a defensive replacement is akin to bringing Mackowiak out to CF as a late inning defensive replacement.

For whatever reason there is a variable that makes it so Anderson's better defense is not enough to outweigh being sent down.

Whether its he had an option left, he refuses to listen, he has a bad attitude, he cant be trusted, he slept with Ozzie's wife, I dont know.

We dont have all the information.

So now that we have replaced a pile of crap in the batting order with TCQ, how devastating will this offense be going forward?

I don't predict that Quentin will be around long nor will he be 100%. It'd be great if he was, but I won't bet on it.

With the poor defensive OF we will trot out there on a day in and day out standpoint, we need someone who can catch the ball late in the game down the strech. If its not Anderson, then get someone who can fill the bill. Because trotting out Wise as a defensive replacement is a joke.

If Anderson or Wise is pinch hitting, it's going to result in an out anyways. Anderson is a better defender, which is the only realy use that roster spot has anyways since you're going to see a lot of Pods moving to left and a defensive replacement moving into center to keep Q fresh later in games. Wise is marginally better as a pinch runner (which is really not important), and it's not by a big margin anyways. That's about it.

AMEN MY FRIEND! :-)

It's unforunate that this move is tainted with Wise staying up and BA going down. Dewayne Wise is worthless. I wouldn't care if it weren't for the fact that BA is better at every single aspect of baseball than Dewayne Wise.

Offensively, Wise is better and while I know Wise has had a worse season (and he's still a bad offensive player) Anderson really does suck offensively. However, there aren't major differences in there offensive game where defensively, Anderson is really a premiere defensive OFer. And since we are going to seriously have a major need with guys coming off our bench to play outfield defense, I'd have went with the defensive specialist.

I am fine with this if we call up another guy to take Wise's place, like Hopper, Cook, Restovich, etc. Or trade for a fourth outfielder. I really dont care as long as Wise isnt on this team anymore.

I don't think Restovich can play CF, so its really Hopper or Cook. And Hopper looks like another Wise to me, or similar. And Cook is of course an unknown, though he has put up far better minor league numbers than either of the other two have.
