NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 12:55 PM) Lucas Harrell with 6 shutout innings so far. Charlotte leading big. Anderson not in the lineup. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...94&sid=t494 Harrell has been looking pretty good this year, though his BB numbers in Charlotte have been a bit high until today. Is it possible he is fully recovered from his injury, and can blossom into the pitcher we thought we had prior to it? That would be an awfully nice surprise. Anderson not in the lineup. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...94&sid=t494 It's surprising that Flowers has been benched as often as he has been up there so far. Don't like that. ChiSox_Sonix
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 02:22 PM) Day game after a night game thing. Right, but he should be getting some more ABs at DH. The more at bats he gets in the minors the better at this point.

Palehosefan
Would love to hear what Harrell's arm strength looks like after a few years of recovery from surgery. He had nice K numbers today.
Dizzy Sox
Harrell's peripherals aren't all that impressive, but a few more starts like today's an he might pitch himslef into a September call-up.

Kenny Hates Prospects
Shirek: 7IP, 6H, 1ER, 2BB, 3K, ERA at 2.18 No walks for Santeliz today. 2IP, 3H, 0R, 0BB, 3K, ERA at 0.94, BAA .201 but still way too many BB on the season. One positive about him is that the splits say he's best with men on base and RISP. So he must at least have confidence. Get those walks down and then get to Chicago. Clevelan is effectively wild, his fastball is live, but he doesn't always know where it's going.
JPN366
Kyle McCulloch is definitely out of the rotation. Matt Long has taken his place indefinitely. I know this because only the starter for the night and the starter for the next night are dressed, the other three starters sit behind home plate and chart pitches. Tonight, Justin Cassel and Charlie Shirek were dressed, and John Ely, Daniel Hudson and Matt Long were charting. Kyle McCulloch was dressed and went out to the bullpen. JPN366
Donny Lucy...not happy to be back in AA. He didn't say as much, but I could sense it. And, Dayan Viciedo hit a ball so hard tonight, his double that went to left center, that I was startled. He hit the hell out of it, and his bat speed on that hit was off the charts. chisoxfan09
Great outing for Harrell. What is the scouting report on Harrell? Power pitcher with plus fastball or middle of the pack pitcher with nice stuff (Good FB plus secondary pitches)?
chisoxfan09
Just took a look (Someone mentioned he was out and he was for all of 2007 so it must have been Tommy John surgery). His control is pretty shaky even from Rookie ball. His K/BB rate is pretty bad. Dunno if he is MLB material with those stats. We have enough pitchers on the staff with control problems. ** JPN ** Did he have control problems or wildness at BHam? He doesn't attack hitters enough. When he does, you get results like today and June 6th.

Kenny Hates Prospects
JPN should have a blog where he can randomly discuss all things Barons, anything from scouting reports to odd happenings throughout the games, etc. Then he can give his overall opinions and so forth too, and actually pretty much discuss anything. I'd read it fo sho. Or even better yet he can do a video blog every now and then and get some footage of the players. Basically, JPN can be a Barons slave for all of our benefit.
