fathom
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 10:58 PM) You'd be selling really low. Although I don't see how Arizona can refuse him. They were already wrong on him once. And that's why I say if the value is good
SoxAce
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 05:30 PM) Gulp...if the value is good, I'd consider trading Quentin. You know I've been down with that for a while.
caulfield12
We need to give Quentin time to get his hitting stroke bat. Between the wrist injury and now this, he likely won't be "good/okay/fine" until spring training next year. Trading him would be insane now...at his lowest possible value? And no team wants to risk giving up talent with the injury history he's had.
danman31
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 05:30 PM) Gulp...if the value is good, I'd consider trading Quentin. I don't think this is a bad idea, just not now. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 05:40 PM) Reality is...Quentin's back currently in the same boat he was when Arizona traded him; his value is depressed because of injury, so the other team you're trading with would expect to get him at a discount. Which means it's not the time you want to trade him, unless it's the other guy offering something stupid. Right, he is at lowest value. At the same time, if he finished reasonably well this year (got hot for a month) I would be happy to trade him in the offseason.

beck72
Quentin's scuffling now. But no way would the sox trade him. #1, the sox wouldn't get 1/2 the value for him that he's worth, as teams would be reluctant to take on a "injury risk"/ guy with one very good year. Most GM's aren't the risk takers that KW is. #2, Q's more valuable to the sox with his salary, OBP skills, ability to hit for avg. and SLG, decent speed, and ability to play either LF or RF than most teams. Q is one of the centerpieces of the "New Sox", as they transition from the softball sluggers to a more versatile, well rounded team. You simply can't replace what Carlos did last year. It's taken decent years from Dye, Pk and Thome to make up for Carlos's off year.
