I guess it depends on who else is on the team.

Some people might question having Mauer bat second, but it makes sense that you would want to get your two best hitters at bat in the first.

I also noticed Beckham isn't pointing his bat as forward anymore and has his hands in closer, so that should help him hit the inside fastball better. It's so refreshing to see young players making the right adjustments.

He really reminds me so much of Michael Young

In a perfect world, Getz is your #9 hitter and that gives you some excellent speed when the order turns over. I still don't think Danks is a top of the order hitter, and more likely to be in the 7th or 8th spot.

I could see Danks as a no. 5 hitter if he develops power. However, it seems like with us and outfield prospects, that's a big if.

The answer to that would be that we don't buff our minor leaguers up with performance enhancers like other organizations do.

Well as you know everything can change in 2+ years in this buisness. That's why I was pointing out whomever in regards to it. This guy can actually change a god damn philosophy in this organization with his ability to drive in runs, and hit doubles without relying on stealing bases to get in scoring position. It can be 1-0 or 2-0 before the 3 hitter even gets a chance to bat in the first inning.

I think KW should try to get a solid 3B and move Beckham to SS and Alexei back to 2B and Getz to the bench, minors or anywhere else....

Ozzie's too stubborn to move Alexei back to 2nd base.

Your logic makes too much sense. Hell I'd preach putting Alexei in CF next year.

Getz made a horrible play but that doesn't mean he sucks anymore than Wise's great catch makes him good.

I just think he's not very good. It also seems like he never draws walks anymore. He might be a decent player for the Pirates or Nationals, but he sure seems like a weak link if you want to have a strong lineup.

Getz would be my 2nd baseman and 9/8 hitter...even after today's blunder. I realize s*** happens....and Getz doesn't make errors like that s*** even occasionally. But most of the other players (PK excluded) tend to f*** up every other game or so on defense somehow.

If you put him at 2nd, Beckham at SS, and sign Chone to play 3rd, then you're putting together an Ozzie style offense. Also, who else thinks KW will go balls out to get Carl Crawford this offseason?

Is it just me, or does it make a LOT of sense to move Alexei to CF in the offseason. If he can play a solid CF with his offensive production, doesn't that answer a huge hole we've had since 2005?

Getz has been pretty bad defensively this year. Even when he shows good range to his left, he takes too long to get the runner out.

Matters how soon they think JorDanks will be up. I'm probably JorDanks biggest non-fan though, so probably a bad judge on the situation.

No, but that horrible play coupled with his average at best arm and his mediocre defense in general does. The only thing Getz does really well is get down the line to first base quickly. He's a nice 25th man to have on the bench but not good enough to be a starter on team that doesn't have overwhelming talent at all the other positions.

If Nix can develop into a more consistent offensive player, I'd have no problem with a Getz-Nix platoon at 2B. Good defense, good speed, Getz has shown he is quite clutch, and Nix has some good pop. I would have no problem with that in the 9-hole.

I totally agree, but you have to upgrade in CF next year. AJP should be the #8 hitter next season.

If you play 81 games at the Cell you cannot get to speed happy and need to focus on the power. I'm not against getting speedier, but they need to keep boppers in the middle of the lineup

Carl Crawford makes a lot of sense. A 1-2 of Chone and Crawford would be exactly what Ozzie has always wanted, probably since his days in Florida with Pierre and Castillo at the top of the lineup.

terrible road trip so far, but that shows how terrible this division is that the Sox have lost a grand total of 2 games over this stretch.

The more I see of the Twins, Tigers and Sox, the more I'm convinced these teams will mill around each other for the rest of the year

I just next season we rid ourselves of at least 2 of the slow softball style players....

Really, really want to see Thome gone, and I also think Dye's not likely to return. That's 70 homers you have to replace, but we can potentially upgrade our outfield defense while getting solid production for half the cost.
