wilmot825
I got a text update from the mlb.com updater during tonights game and it said that "Ramirez attacks teammate Pierzynski, Jermaine Dye has to restrain Ramirez." However, they make no mention of it in the news....anyone know whats the deal? Edited July 28, 2009 by wilmot825
BearSox
not even close. AJ and Ramirez got into a bit of a verbal argument, and Dye just so happened to be around there. And then Ozzie got pissed and threw a bucket filled with double bubble to the ground. Not that big of a deal, but Ramirez needs to get his head out of his ass. AJ said something to A-ram in the dugout after the s***ty inning, I doubt 'Xei understood a word he said, Dye stood between them. watchtower41
Boy, I'm sure glad this little riff provided a spark for the rest of the team tonight. Stink. <_>
bighurt4life
Video of it on MLB.com, didn't look like a big deal, just some tempers boiling over on a team that is playing bad at a pretty bad time.

To his credit, A.J. has become a better defensive catcher over the past year and a half. He's also swinging the bat nicely. Plus, I don't think that Flowers is anywhere near ready right now. Unless TF kills it we're definitely going to miss him. He calls a hell of a game, plays good D (bad at throwing out runners but good at the other aspects) hits near 300 with 15hr a season. Not too damn many catchers in the league that can do that. His game calling is very underrated too. Anyone remember how much better our pitchers got when he arrived? He's one of the best catchers in the game and though he is a bit of a character his passion, hustle, and smarts get under the skin of the opposition much more than it does his teammates. The guy is a gamer and I love him.

For years we had to watch Fordyce, Johnson, etc behind the plate. Now we have a catcher who is hitting .300 and people are down on him and his "act". Please. I wish we had 9 guys in our lineup with his "act". When AJ is gone, we will see teh effects immediately with the pitching staff.

There really aren't that many catchers in the league I'd rather have over him.

Unfortunately, his defense had deteriorated...and offense had improved greatly...when he came to us in the 2000 season. But I would still never put him a sentence with the likes of Fordyce or Widger. I believe Johnson was a Boras client, and he deteriorated quickly after the 2000 season. And no one put him in the same sentence as Widger. No one ever should. People try and compare Quentin to god (AKA Widger). Well, atleast Widger finished the 2005 season on the active roster.

Widger's last game with the Sox - July 20th. The Sox were 58-36, 22 games over .500. White Sox record after July 20th? 32-36, division lost. Coincidence? nastymasty21
I applaud AJ for getting in Alexei's face. Alexei tippy toed into 2nd for the throw and then gator armed it alomost giving casilla 3rd base on the over throw. Alexei's lackadaisical play at SS is killing this team. NorthSideSox72
The pitching and hitting for the Sox actually looked OK last night. Hitters got robbed a few times or hit the ball hard right at people, pitching looked pretty good. It was just the damn defense. And I was a big Alexei defender at SS for a while - early in the season he looked decent and with skills to improve. But as the season has gone on, he really seems to be getting lazy there. So anything done to light a fire under his ass is a good thing, in my view. ETA: There were also 3 plays that Konerko couldn't scoop, that he almost always does. That was a huge aberration, not something likely to happen again.
