YASNY
Gammons said that Gonzalez could be up with the BoSox very soon. With Sauerbeck, Fossum and Embree, that would give Boston 4 lefties in the pen. That seems awfully heavily loaded to the lefty side.
Chisoxfn
Pirates are giving up everyone and anyone. Lyon is a solid pitcher though. Move makes sense for both teams. Don't know why the Yanks need another old player in Orosco, but oh well. Heck of a player though.

I hardly see how that's an improvement.
YASNY
It might be the fact that Sauerbeck has a LH oppenents BA of only about .212 against him over the past 3 years. Looks like "lefty specialist" to me.
Jim Fainter
I thought the Pirates wanted prospects, and they give this kid Gonzales to Boston?
SI1020
I thought the Pirates wanted prospects, and they give this kid Gonzales to Boston? The Pirates are voluntarily "contracting" and their fans, the brave souls left are in a total uproar. The Steelers are in their Latrobe training camp. You're going to see more and more empty seats at PNC. It's a terrible situation, an indictment against the latest ML CBA and an even greater indictment against Pirate ownership. JR is a spenthrift compared to this. Wow! Can't believe I said that.

It also shows that new stadiums don't guarantee squat.
southsider2k5
It also shows that new stadiums don't guarantee squat. Look at the Tigers...Oh wait, they still kick our asses on a regular basis.
Chisoxfn
Look at the Tigers...Oh wait, they still kick our asses on a regular basis. The only thing that should almost guarnatee fans is winning. And their are exceptions to that too, just look at Oakland. Now Mix a winning team with a nice stadium and then you have a way to make a ton fo money.
