I agree that Podsednik could use the day off, but Kotsay leading off??? Really????I hope Posada's ready for some speed on the bases today!

last stolen base was ... 2001?

Pods has been highly ineffective at stealing this year (which, along with his defense, have been his only real downsides), to the point where his even attempting it is detrimental. So on that aspect of the game, a guy who never steals, is an upgrade.

If Pods needs a day off, which is probably a good thing for him occasionally, then Kotsay is not a bad choice. Looked pretty decent his last couple at bats last night.

And, he's already played the Yankees 8 times this year...so hopefully, there's some familiarity there.

He even single-handedly beat them once in May when the rest of the team had the flu.

If he beats them tonight, I'll photoshop Kotsay's head onto your avatar.

White Sox call up Lillibridge in case Ramirez goes on the DL

July 30, 2009, 3:55 PM

By: Bruce Levine

The Chicago White Sox have called up Brent Lillibridge from Triple-A Charlotte to wait and see if Alexei Ramirez has responded from treatment or must go on the disabled list.

Ramirez injured his left ankle in Wednesday's game against the Minnesota Twins. He had an MRI today. Results are unknown at this time. As of 3:50, Ramirez walked into the clubhouse and was being checked out by the Sox training staff.
