ThunderBolt
Dan Hudson is just tearing through a Jacksonville lineup that includes Logan Morrison and Mike Stanton.
flavum
Once the Sox officially fall out of this thing, Contreras should be released, and Hudson should come up. It won't happen, but that's what should happen.
son of a rude
7 strikeouts through 3 innings. Hudson is an absolute stud.

ThunderBolt
Viciedo looks like he's set to have a monster second half. Two-Run homer and an RBI Double, so far tonight. Edited July 31, 2009 by Thunderbolt

beautox
9Ks for hudson, how long before he moves onto AAA and Chicago?
Balta1701
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 05:59 PM) Viciedo's looks like he's set to have a monster second half. Two-Run homer and an RBI Double, so far tonight. In the 13 games since the all star break, hitting .348, 2 doubles, 3 home runs, >.900 OPS. flavum
QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 08:01 PM) The sox future is so bright! Buehrle, Danks, Floyd, Hudson, Richard They could do that now if they wanted to. Colon, Contreras, and Garcia need to be purged from the Sox system. I think that would be a good start. maggsmaggs
QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 08:03 PM) 9Ks for hudson, how long before he moves onto AAA and Chicago? My guess is not this year. He'll probably start in AAA next year (if not traded) and battle Poreda for the 5th starters spot (unless we make a trade to fill out the rotation). Next year: 1) Mark 2) Gavin 3) Danks 4) Richard 5) Hudson/Poreda/Trade/FA competition
ThunderBolt
QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 09:03 PM) 9Ks for hudson, how long before he moves onto AAA and Chicago? Buddy Bell's system seems to encourage promotion to AAA, i imagine he could be called up to Charlotte in mid-August. maggsmaggs
Viciedo almost up to .280. If he works out this off-season and transforms his fat into muscle while also losing 15 pounds, watch out.
ThunderBolt
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 08:38 PM) Once the Sox officially fall out of this thing, Contreras should be released, and Hudson should come up. It won't happen, but that's what should happen. No need to release Contreras. If we could trade him for two mid-tier prospects, I’d love to give a young guy a shot in our rotation. flavum
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 08:09 PM) Viciedo almost up to .280. If he works out this off-season and transforms his fat into muscle while also losing 15 pounds, watch out. If all goes well, maybe he can be moved to the OF. Brent Morel seems to be developing as a real 3B prospect. If we can develop a Mitchell-Danks-Viciedo outfield and a Morel-Ramirez-Beckham infield, with a free agent 1B, or Quentin at DH, and Flowers catching, well, that would be something. Of course, they all have to be good players too. And that can get tricky.

I know some will flame out, but it's just nice to be able to scour the minor league box scores and see legit major league prospects.
flavum
That's 10 k's for Hudson. He gave up an infield single, and then got the DP. 6 inn, 2 hits, 2 walks, 10 k's Edited July 31, 2009 by flavum
maggsmaggs
Hudson is truly having a player of the year type season. But, unfortunately, those usually go to guys with more pre-season hype than Huddy received. Man is he amazing.
flavum
Hudson is leaving the game in the 7th inning with an injury. Possibly a back or oblique. Not good.
maggsmaggs
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 08:29 PM) Hudson is leaving the game in the 7th inning with an injury. Possibly a back or oblique. Not good. Better than an arm or elbow. Hopefully more precautionary than anything else.
flavum
If it's the oblique, don't count on him pitching again this year.

CSF
Hudson with 10 K's in 6 innings against a lineup including Stanton & Morrison? Oh Sweet Jesus. Gotta get through that trade deadline tomorrow with him still a member of the Sox org.

CSF
Probably won't happen, but both Hudson & DexCarter should be on BA's Hot Prospect sheet tomorrow. Hudson should've been on there last week when he outdueled one of their constant faves, Jarrod Parker.
