chw42
How come I don't know any of the Twins' prospects? Edit: Guy they got is a 2nd round pick from last year. Looks like Billy Beane got a fair deal. Edited July 31, 2009 by chw42
BearSox
Our two biggest rivals are getting better today... lets see if KW does anything to make us better. Only what, less than 3 hours left?

Brian
It will look bad now if the KW, who has the reputation for making moves, stands pat while Twins and Tigers improve in areas they needed to.

BearSox
Cabrera REALLY improves them up the middle. They can have Harris play 2B.
Princess Dye
What would a 34 yr old Rolen cost in trade?

For this year, yes. I'm usually down for trader KW, but I don't know about this team this year. I think he can make better deals to improve the team in the long run by standing pat and waiting for the offseason with the farm and the cleared payroll space
chw42
Cabrera fits very well on turf. Ground ball hitter meets turf = higher batting average. Our two rivals just got better with barely above average players that fit the needs of their home field.
BearSox
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:22 PM) What would a 34 yr old Rolen cost in trade? It's looking like the Jays wanting something back along the lines of Yonder Alonso.
prochisox
I really like this trade for Oakland. O-Cab cannot be offered arbitration after this year so the Twins will get no pick from him after the year ends. Ladendorf was a second round pick last year so he must have potential. That would require a change of position for Gordon Beckham. In other words, it ain't happening.
RockRaines
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:22 PM) Cabrera REALLY improves them up the middle. They can have Harris play 2B. I'd like to see your explanation on this. Harris has been better defensively than Cabrera, and now he is moving to a faster surface. They have also been about equal offensively. I dont see this as an upgrade at all.

Dick Allen
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:19 PM) Enjoy that clubhouse cancer Twinkies It didn't stop the Red Sox, Angels or White Sox winning when he was around. He is a douchebag, no question, but he is a huge upgrade for them although his glove has slipped this year. Just be thankful the Twins made that trade for Delmon Young. Bartlett and Garza would look very good on the Twins.
SoxFan562004
the only thing that gets me excited about the White Sox this year is the SP. If they could back into the playoffs with Floyd, Danks and MB firing they would be a tough out
chw42
Cabrera's been atrocious on defense this year. UZR of -7.9. His Range Runs is a -6. He's really showing his age.

What player have you ever heard say that, besides maybe a Yankee? Sounds like he causes trouble wherever he goes...

For all the knobbing the Twins get, that was one of the poorer deals in the last few years

Frankly, if this means less of Nick Punto, I see this as a win for the White Sox.
The Ginger Kid
i don't see this as a big deal, but it might help the psyche of the Twins. Apparently Morneau and Mauer made it known they were pissed that no deals were in the works to go for it this season.
NorthSideSox72
Its funny, I keep having this illogical reaction to these deals, where I want KW to do something. Then I realize, I am not sure what the team could even use at this point. Therefore, I'd like him to go big (Peavy-level big), or stand pat. After watching him play defense, they will be even more pissed. Unless they move him to second. His bat will help.
