League
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:52 PM) That one is pretty even, IMO. Eh. Beckett has been mediocre in 2/4 of his years there, and Hanley could possibly be the best player in baseball. Imagine an infield of Youk-Pedroia-Hanley-Lowell. Sick. kwolf68
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 02:49 PM) You got a point. Thing with the Red Sox is that they've been so good in regards to drafting/developing the last 5 years that it seems like they can trade anybody and not be hurt in the least. I want somebody to rape the Red Sox for once. Yep. Their system is awesome. They have enough prospects to make deadline deals to get veterans for the stretch run, and enough prospects to fill in where attrition removes established players. The Dodgers and Angels used to be that way, not sure where those two orgs are right now overall, but 2-3 years ago they were about the best. But one of those years he was a 20 win ace for a WS champion. That tips the scales just a tad.

Damn, guess we need to keep digging on that.

That tips the scales just a tad. That same season Hanley hit .332 with 48 doubles, 29 HR's and 51 SB....I think Florida won that trade, but really both teams are winners. And Mike Lowell hit .324 with 120 RBI and was the WS MVP.

K. How are you basing this though? Is it just who performed better or who is the better player? By that account - Yes Hanley is the best player in the deal now. By what actually counts for their teams - a World Series trophy or 2. I'd say Boston won. Especially if Florida ends up not keeping Hanley - which is always a possiblity. Pumpkin Escobar
Man Cleveland has netted some nice things the last couple years...Santana and LaPorta+ last year, Carrasco, Knapp, Masterson + everyone else this year...Theyre getting together some real nice pieces. And they still have the perenial MVP pick by Peter Gammons in Sizemore...Such a beast is Sizemore. God I hate Peter.
