Texsox
You know how a song comnes on and it jkust kind of fits your day? Well today, for me, as my two months on South Padre Island surfing, sailing, kayaking, creep to a close, it is Windin' your way down on Baker Street Light in your head and dead on your feet Well another crazy day You'll drink the night away And forget about everything This city desert makes you feel so cold. It's got so many people but it's got no soul And it's taking you so long To find out you were wrong When you thought it had everything You used to think that it was so easy You used to say that it was so easy But you're tryin' You're tryin' now Another year and then you'll be happy Just one more year and then you'll be happy But you're cryin' You're cryin' now Way down the street there's a lad in his place He opens the door he's got that look on his face And he asks you where you've been You tell him who you've seen And you talk about anything He's got this dream about buyin' some land He's gonna give up the booze and the one night stands And then he'll settle down there's a quiet little town And forget about everything But you know he'll always keep movin' You know he's never gonna stop movin Cus he's rollin' He's the rollin' stone And when you wake up it's a new mornin' The sun is shinin' it's a new morning You're goin' You're goin' home. BigEdWalsh
....sigh..... Nick Drake "Poor Boy" Never sing for my supper I never help my neighbour Never do what is proper For my share of labour. I'm a poor boy And I'm a rover Count your coins and Throw them over my shoulder I may grow older Nobody knows How cold it grows And nobody sees How shaky my knees Nobody cares How steep my stairs And nobody smiles If I cross their stiles. Oh poor boy So sorry for himself Oh poor boy So worried for his health. You may say every day Where will he stay tonight. Never know what I came for Seems that I've forgotten Never ask what I came for Or how I was begotten. I'm a poor boy And I'm a ranger Things I say May seem stranger than Sunday Changing to Monday. Nobody knows How cold it flows And nobody feels The worn down heels Nobody's eyes Make the skies Nobody spreads Their aching heads. Oh poor boy So worried for his life Oh poor boy So keen to take a wife. He's a mess but he'll say yes If you just dress in white. Nobody knows How cold it blows And nobody sees How shaky my knees Nobody cares How steep my stairs And nobody smiles If you cross their stiles. Oh poor boy So sorry for himself Oh poor boy So worried for his health. You may say every day Where will he stay tonight. Oh poor boy So worried for his life Oh poor boy So keen to take a wife. Oh poor boy So sorry for himself Oh poor boy So worried for his health Oh poor boy.
The Critic
When I tried to turn left onto Cicero Ave. - only to be blocked by a bunch of f***ing dumbasses who jammed themselves into the intersection while trying to turn onto the street I was on, which had a train crossing preventing anyone from going anywhere - this song didn't come on the radio, but it entered my mind: Slayer - I Hate You You are just a waste of sperm They way you look Makes my stomach turn The way you think Is no way at all God, you really think that you have balls I hate you ain't it true I hate you and everything you do You walk around like a f***ing dick And every time you're near You know I get real sick You're so stupid There's nothing in your head God, how I wish that you were dead I hate you ain't it true I hate you and everything you do
BigSqwert
QUOTE (Tex @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 02:04 PM) You know how a song comnes on and it jkust kind of fits your day? Well today, for me, as my two months on South Padre Island surfing, sailing, kayaking, creep to a close, it is I would have thought you would be humming some classic favorites of yours like the 1891 hit "The River of Pleasure." 1. Oh, drink of the river of pleasure, A deep, living stream of delight; The source of all blessings forever, It flashes in heaven’s pure light. * Refrain: Oh, drink of the river of pleasure and love, I feel it so deep in my soul; It gladdens the one who is born from above, And maketh the wounded heart whole. 2. Oh, drink of the river of pleasure, ’Tis sparkling with joy for thy soul; It flows in the bosom forever, That’s given to Father’s control. 3. Oh, drink of the river of pleasure, For thee it is flowing along; Down from the bounteous Giver, Its music a sweet, charming song. 4. Oh, drink of the river of pleasure, And surely thy spirit shall know Thy longing and thirsting are over, Thy blessings forever shall flow.
