bjm676
Wouldn't it be great if he started that make up game at Wrigley after all that hype about them getting him?
scotty22hotty
Wow what a steal great job kenny! weird that this is basically the same trade as before :headbang
The Bones
wtf...under the radar. This is great news! Even if it doesn't help this year we are looking good in 2010 and 2011.
3 BeWareTheNewSox 5
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:42 PM) BUT HOW LONG IS HE OUT FOR?! He is making good progress, so instead of missing the year, there are reports he will be ready to start around Sep
League
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:44 PM) I think we easily have the best rotation in the AL. For a long time. Peavy though 2013, Burls through 2011, Danks & Floyd through 2013.
TheBigHurt
56m through 2012, 74m through 2013. Sexy.
chunk23
This is an overpay simply because it appears this package is better for the Pads than the original package. The first one was Richard, Poreda and Broadway. Carter and Russell easily have more value than Broadway. Peavy is out for at least 5 weeks. KW overpaid. Wedge
QUOTE (The Bones @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 02:44 PM) wtf...under the radar. This is great news! Even if it doesn't help this year we are looking good in 2010 and 2011. Bingo. This could be like when the Sox aquired Garcia in 2004. They didn't win the division... but it sure as shnitzzle helped in 2005!
Flash Tizzle
QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:44 PM) I think I heard something about the end of August. Hahahha. That's smart, trade for Peavy for a potential late season push when he wouldn't even be around for 5-6 starts. I hope this is a case of Peavy being a little b**** and taking his time on the DL rather than a legitimate injury.
BigSqwert
QUOTE (chunk23 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:45 PM) KW overpaid. I disagree. You're thinking short term and this year's playoff implications. This helps us be a force for the next few years.

The first package included Daniel Hudson and another pitcher as well. KW underpaid for an Ace through 2013. Poreda is looking more and more like a closer and Hudson >>> Carter. nitetrain8601
QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:44 PM) Wouldn't it be great if he started that make up game at Wrigley after all that hype about them getting him? Only if he throws a perfect game against them. That is the standard that has been set.

I thought it was a steal then and still think it is. Richard stepped up big for us, but honestly I don't think you can count on him (I wouldn't doubt it if SD saw all the praise on ESPN Sun night and all that and called the Sox back up)

TheBigHurt
He is making good progress, so instead of missing the year, there are reports he will be ready to start around Sep 1 Awesome, but I would totally be in favor of waiting until next season if it benefited his health. I'm a little surprised we didn't have to give up more than this.
RockRaines
So, I got the team right that was calling us, but not the players involved. Minor mistake.
chunk23
Oh, I didn't realize it was Hudson. Nevermind. Assuming the 5th starter isn't a complete blackhole for the time being, it's a good trade.
BigEdWalsh
As long as it wasn't Hudson. This rocks!!!

FutureSox.com got 3 drops in. Very nice work!
OilCan
So..... I wonder if THIS give any incentive for BurlyMon to stick around a couple more years after his contract expires...
DaTank
What happened to all the posters ripping Peavy calling him a "b***h" and "p***y" for not wanting to come to the AL earlier in the season? Change of thought because he approved this one?

SoxAce
QUOTE (League @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:47 PM) Hudson >>> Carter. Well that's debatable, though this year you are 100% correct. I still think Carter has the better upside, though with Huddy's increase in velocity and his secondary pitches getting better, upside might not win. I basically see it as Poreda, Richard and Carter. I am shocked that Adam Russell has value still.. but he does throw hard.
