Friend of Nordhagen
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:44 PM) For a so called “great pitchers manger” Ozzie has no idea about when and where some of his guys need to leave the game. I bet he wanted to get him the win. Not so bright.
bobryansson
I still go back to the initial misplay by Q in left. Don't disagree with the other criticism and bashing, but THAT's the one that pisses me off the most.
Buehrle>Wood
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 03:40 AM) He should have never, ever been allowed to start this inning. Yep. Especially since DJ hasn't pitched in forever.

ThunderBolt
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:45 PM) Yep. Especially since DJ hasn't pitched in forever. And it’s not like this doesn’t happen ALL THE TIME with Count. This is the expected outcome. The minute trouble brews you pull him the hell out of the game. He's actually been much better with this than he used to be. 2006 was one of the worst years I've ever seen with that.
JorgeFabregas
Ozzie is good at watching pitch counts. Not so good at recognizing when pitchers have lost it.

He is a lot better than he used to be. Still has the occasional tendency to leave a guy in too long ala tonight.

Buehrle>Wood
QUOTE (Reddy @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 03:48 AM) a double, a walk and an inherited run scored = savior? No, a 3.38 ERA in 67 IP is being a savior. It's certainly an asset to have your mop-up guy keep you in games. chw42
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:42 PM) Contreras might have to take some accountability for the meatball pitches, walks and hits Yeah, he gave up one home run to Hairston. Then he gets the next guy to hit a routine fly ball, Rios drops it. He hit a guy on 0-2, that's his fault. The next ball is a routine grounder to Nix. He should be out of the inning. I don't want excuses saying he should pitch over mistakes. 1) He pitched over one in the previous inning 2) anytime you give a team 5 outs, they will score a lot of runs on you. I don't know how the official scorer can say that the ball Cust hit was actually a hit. Nix bobbled it for 5 seconds.
ThunderBolt
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:46 PM) He's actually been much better with this than he used to be. 2006 was one of the worst years I've ever seen with that. He’s very good with Floyd and Danks. He seems to struggle with The Count and Buehrle. Maybe, he just feels uncomfortable being assertive with veteran pitchers
