BigSqwert
Here's a chance to actually gain some ground on Detroit. Hopefully Mark brought some of that Seattle water he was drinking last week.

hogan873
This could be a lucrative homestand for the Sox. Detroit is slumping off and on, and the Sox should be able to take care of business against the Royals. But, we all know hoe the Royals like to play spoiler. BigSqwert
QUOTE (hogan873 @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 11:21 AM) the Sox should be able to take care of business against the Royals Cleveland and KC are very capable of beating a .500 ball club, which in essence is Detroit and the Sox. BaseballNick
I have tix for tonight, but the forecast looks really ugly. Ironically, these are tix traded in from a previous rainout.

ThunderBolt
Should be a fun matchup between two of the smartest pitchers in the league. I like Bannister quite a bit, not as a major league pitcher, but as a student of the game.

southsideirish71
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 02:01 PM) Didn't catch the game yesterday. Was Pods in CF? He was playing LF. If you want to see what happened, just check out Capns avatar. Same exact play that he had a few years back in Oakland, the only difference is this time Pods didn't let the ball hit him in the noggin. Same wall, same jump, gravity this time didnt plunk him in the noodle as the last time Pods jumped. ThunderBolt
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 02:58 PM) Ozzie is learning!! This is pretty much our optimal defensive alignment with our current roster. Make of that what you will.

fathom
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 07:03 PM) He was playing LF. He bobbled or misplayed 4 balls in LF yesterday. It's amazing how frequently him and Quentin bobble a hit to left field. Him and Rios also got a terrible jump on Davis' flare in the 8th inning. everafan
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 12:42 PM) Should be a fun matchup between two of the smartest pitchers in the league. I like Bannister quite a bit, not as a major league pitcher, but as a student of the game. Meh - last time the Sox knocked him around he made the excuse about BABIP for that game being extraordinarily high. That's not a stat you look at on a game by game basis. The Sox were hitting the ball hard, which is why they were dropping. He tried to make it look like he was just unlucky. I though that was rather cowaredly. greg775
This game will tell us a lot. Banny is capable of shutting us down but he's been AWFUL of late. Are we going to come out a blazing or play down to our competition again?

Princess Dye
The Score 670 is playing tape of KW being upset about yesterday's game (and other games like it) "Hell no, I'm not happy...we're underachievers period." "You have to play well enough, play smart enough, intense enough" to show "you wanna be in the playoffs" "it cant just be lip service" Played at 5:24pm on Boers and Bernstein in case anyone wants to check their Podspot when it goes up later today. The 5PM hour would probably be put up around 6:20 or so. Edited August 17, 2009 by Princess Dye
chw42
We're under .500 against the Royals this year. That alone says we do not deserve to be in the playoffs. Thus, win these next three games.
