The Critic
Great time at the ballpark today. Free tickets, took my little girl, enjoyed the Navy Seals parachuting into the park, saw my sister at the game, and a surprise win over Greinke. Very nice day indeed! southsider2k5
I still want to see us throw at a Billy Butler when Grienke is out on the mound throwing at our guys. Maybe if his guys get smacked a couple of times, they will tell Zach to quit throwing at our guys.
winninguglyin83
now we have to hope for a double shocker -- Ian Snell beating Verlander.
Dick Allen
Contreras looked like he did when he returned from the minors. His stuff is still there, he right now is at the point when he was originally supposed to return. If he works quickly, he'll be fine. When he starts to dawdle, bad things follow. He's a far better option right now than Hudson, Garcia or Torres.
WCSox
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 01:46 PM) but the Jose Contreras and Bobby Jenks redemption tour Bobby hasn't been nearly as bad as Count this year. He's definitely having a down year (by his standards), but his WHIP is still pretty comparable to his peers... South Side Fireworks Man
CHICAGO -- Forget about breaking down game film or looking for flaws in pitching mechanics during side sessions as a way for Jose Contreras to correct a recent disastrous six-start run on the mound for the White Sox. All Contreras needed was to speak with an old friend and make a recommended wardrobe adjustment in order to shut down the Royals over seven innings during Wednesday's 4-2 victory at U.S. Cellular Field. Contreras received a phone call from Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez, his countryman and teammate on the 2005 World Series champions, receiving words of wisdom concerning, of all things, Contreras' uniform pants. "El Duque called me and said, 'If you want to win, wear your pants up,'" said Contreras, through interpreter Ozzie Guillen Jr., after first laughing when he heard the question about the pants comparison to El Duque's style. "I'm not going to change that until something else happens."
SoxFan1
It’s been a bizarre season of sixes for Contreras, who has faltered in recent years after starring during the team’s 2005 championship run. He went 0-5 with an 8.19 ERA in this season’s first six starts, followed by 4-2 with a 2.06 ERA in his next six outings. He then slumped to 0-4 with a 7.62 ERA in six starts before Wednesday. Weird. Let's hope his next 5 starts are amazing, we certainly need them.

SoxAce
I guess that's what El Duque meant when he told Jose to pitch like a Cuban....
