SockMe
Jose to the Pen, Peavy up if he feels good. sorry about the original post, bad information was given to me. Edited August 25, 2009 by SockMe
Kenny Hates Prospects
This doesn't make sense. It take Contreras a while to warm up and he's not consistent enough as a strike-thrower. Count should be in Charlotte as extra insurance in case the team plane crashes and everybody dies and we need pitching. Either that or release the guy. Kenny Hates Prospects
Cowley said Jose was going to the bullpen on the Score unless he has changed his story.
PeavyTime
To my knowledge, Cowley only said "Jose is in the bullpen"
flavum
Cowley, like others, said he's going to the bullpen. Peavy will talk to Cooper tomorrow, and if he feels good, he'll start Saturday in New York.
Flash Tizzle
If true, this even surprises me. I'd thought they'd give him a start in New York, then after they inevitably destroy him, place Contreras in the bullpen because he's a proud veteran pitcher who has had proven success in the past. Quin
Hopefully Peavy can get back in 5 games, so we don't need to do a fifth starter again. As much as a I love Jose, it's time he was demoted.
iamshack
Apparently, Peavy took a line drive off his throwing elbow one pitch before retiring the final batter in the 5th. It's red and swollen, but he doesn't think it caught him too hard. Hopefully this won't be an issue.
LosMediasBlancas
Line drive off his arm aside, Peavy is ready????
iamshack
QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 11:28 PM) Line drive off his arm aside, Peavy is ready???? I think in a perfect world, they would like to give him another start or two. In our world, they probably echo the sentiments that have been expressed around here in recent weeks: Peavy at 75-80% is better than Jose, and we can't afford to squander anymore games. ThunderBolt
About time. Both moves are logical and can only improve the team.
Pumpkin Escobar
Tough game to come back with. We need to turn it on big time.
keithdeluca
really, whats the difference if peavy throws 4-5-6 innings at the mlb level vs the aaa level?? id rather see peavy throw 4 innings vs jose throw anything. peavy cant be any worse then jose at this point, either way make sure dj is ready
SockMe
I kinda feel bad for DJ, we are relying on him so much, he comes in gets the jod done, we usually dont help him out with a win a he gets no credit
jhonnydanks
Peavy did indeed get drilled tonight. Nothing to serious though. He also threw about 5 pitches that would be hit 450 ft by major league players.
