whitesoxfan101
Go ahead and vote. I say yes, seeing as this season is just about a lost cause. No need to rush one of the most important future cogs to this team back when we're .500, can't stay out of our own way, and are dangerously close to falling out of the race if we haven't already. Buehrle>Wood
It's not an arm/shoulder injury so I don't buy that we need to protect him. If he's healthy, he's healthy and needs to go out there.
BigSqwert
What's the precaution for? He is coming back from an ankle injury that has fully healed.
whitesoxfan101
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 09:08 PM) What's the precaution for? He is coming back from an ankle injury that has fully healed. We've been rushing him back to a certain degree. He'd have probably been shut down for the year if he were still in San Diego, and considering how important he is to the future, I think shutting him down and keeping a few extra innings that won't matter off his arm wouldn't be the worst thing. GreatScott82
screw that! let the dude pitch. its becoming apparent that this team wont make it. but who cares, lets see what kind of stud KW aqcuired! TheChrisSamsa
if he's healthy, put him in. Every win still counts, regardless of the last 2 nights.

hogan873
There's no real reason to shut him down. I don't know if I'd pitch him this weekend, but he should definitely pitch this year.
sin city sox fan
Might as well trade him right now.....as soon as he throws a pitch thats not a strike, you'll start hearing "fans" say he sucks and is worthless.

No that will be next season. This season when he throws a non strike, we'll be calling to shut him down. Get it right. dpd9189
QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 09:26 PM) Might as well trade him right now.....as soon as he throws a pitch thats not a strike, you'll start hearing "fans" say he sucks and is worthless. If he's 100% healthy then he pitches, if not then DON'T pitch him. We have too much money invested in this guy to screw around with him and this is the 2nd straight year he's spent a good amount of time on the DL. Umm no....Jake is probably our best pitcher. The whole idea here is to save him some innings because of how good and important he is, seeing as this season is a lost cause. flavum
I'm willing to declare the Sox dead. If Peavy can come back and get a few starts, fine. But they shouldn't bring him back any sooner than he wants. It's not worth it at this point. Just bring Torres back for a few starts and Peavy for a few starts, and Garcia can get his 5-6 starts, and then the season will finally be over. knightni
No. There's nothing about his ankle that will affect his throwing motion or legs.

Yeah because 6ish starts at the end of the season is really going to take a toll on his arm you know considering he hasn't pitched most of the season. It's his ankle, and it's healed. There is not 1 reason to shut Peavy down.
chw42
You might want to be careful, but I don't think shutting him down is a good idea.
greg775
I don't see any reason to pitch him if we go 2-8 on the trip or worse. For that matter, Mark ought to get the last 2 weeks of the season off. Rest him up for what we think will be a good rotation next year. Considering that, where we are as a team and in the standings, and how long and expensive Peavy's contract is, I can see plenty of reasons to keep those half a dozen or so starts worth of pitches from being thrown. MB needs to be the workhorse that we all know he is — let him rack up a few wins to offset some of the eerie post-perfecto slide.

rangercal
anyone who voted to "shut him down" must have not been a sox fan at the time of the white flag trade and felt the pain of the organization quitting on a season.
