beck72
QUOTE (son of a rude @ Sep 7, 2009 -> 03:31 PM) I keep seeing people say this. Is there some huge difference between playing RF and LF that I don't know about? I thought the main difference was getting reads on the ball and having the arm strength to gun it to 3rd and home. Carlos has a good enough arm for RF and has played RF well before. Carlos and the Sox were being careful with him coming back from injury. If he had to learn new movements in RF, such as planting his feet and spinning around on balls hit to his left for throws to 2nd base, that he hadn't played in 2 years, it was probably too risky to have him in RF. The main thing was just getting Carlos' bat back in the lineup and not be a liability on defense. That hasn't been the remedy most hoped it would be for the offense. GreatScott82
I want both Figgins and Abreu. It seems like every year Abreu hits a quite .300 with 100 rbi and a high OBP. Not to mention he hits on the left side, something KW will be looking for this offseason. Figgins LF Beckham 3B Abreu DH Konerko 1B Quentin RF (i think at 100% he'd be fine out there) Pierzynski C Rios CF Getz 2B Ramirez SS Rotation: Peavy, Buerhle, Floyd, Danks, Garcia (Hudson/Torres as backup options)
son of a rude
There is no way we have enough money for both Abreu and Figgins. Hell, we may not have enough for one of them.

GreatScott82
Abreu isn't making that much this year. I'm sure we could have him at a 2 year- $16 million deal. Figgins may be a little too pricey. And if that is the case, another year of Pods may not be a bad option after all. Esspecially with Jordan Danks waiting in the wings. But Matt Holliday is also going to get a monster contract this offseason while Abreu wont.

Well, yeah, you don't want to move him over there right now. But he could certainly get reps there in March.

I'll be surprised if he gets quite that much, although I could see him matching the deal Carlos Lee got (100/6)
