oldsox
8th wonder of the world. 7.2 innings, one run. Lead off hitter hit his second pitch nine miles into deep right center; RF had a great jump and caught it; next guy had a single up the middle. Then, he got the DBacks out. Brandon Allen hit a long homer in second inning.
chw42
I think Jose does this every time he gets some kind of a fresh start. Then he eats at himself and starts sucking sooner or later.
greg775
Good for Jose. I love Jose. Brandon Allen has 3 hrs already? Bad bad trade KW.

RibbieRubarb
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2009 -> 11:04 PM) Good for Jose. I love Jose. Brandon Allen has 3 hrs already? Bad bad trade KW. He is also hitting .217, a .294obp, 8rbis and has 19k in 46 at bats. In about the same number of at-bats to start this year Josh Fields was hitting .286 with 1hr., 9 rbi, 14k and a .375obp. So I guess you'd think the Gordan Beckham call-up was a bad idea then? But go ahead cherry pick your stats to prove a point...

Cubano
I saw him pitch. I wrote something in my blog. Less than 50 % of his pitches this year were fastballs and that is not good for Jose! I wonder why Cooper did not address this issue with Jose. I remember once he came to CHiSox Cooper worked with him on this. http://cubanballplayers.blogspot.com/
Dick Allen
When he's working quickly and throwing strikes, he's still a pretty good pitcher. Unfortunately he hasn't been able to do that for long stretches.
scenario
QUOTE (Cubano @ Sep 6, 2009 -> 05:56 AM) I saw him pitch. I wrote something in my blog. I remember once he came to CHiSox Cooper worked with him on this. http://cubanballplayers.blogspot.com/ Cooper and the Sox have addressed this with him repeatedly. But it didn't seem to make a difference, because when Jose got on the mound he simply did what he wanted. And for some reason, he just loves dropping down into his multiple sidearm slots... consequences be damned.

The Allen trade only makes sense if PK is signed for another 4 or 5 years. It is dissapointing considering the return we have had from Pena. Contreras can still pitch he just wasn't for us for sure Edited September 7, 2009 by elrockinMT
ILMOU
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 6, 2009 -> 12:11 PM) You mean you like Pena? My god. Pena sucks. If they both suck, it isn't a "bad, bad trade", it's a meaningless trade. That's the concept.

After the 4 years, he will have 2 years of arb-eligible status. The Sox still have 6 year rights on him and Ramirez per Rick Hahn.
