flavum
Wait a second... You can use a major league player on a rehab assignment in the minor league playoffs? That just seems wrong. Daisuke Matsuzaka vs Justin Edwards in the Carolina League playoffs. Winston-Salem vs. Salem Kannapolis vs. Lakewood Great Falls vs. Helena Edited September 9, 2009 by Ozzie Ball

SoxAce
f***ing Boston.. Oh well.. it'll be good for our minor league players to see how they fare against a major league pitcher. Gives them that confidence boost.
ThunderBolt
The Reds decided to leave Jay Bruce down in AAA, becasuse they had nothing left to play for in the big leagues. Thought that was hilarious.
JPN366
QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 03:40 PM) Wait a second... You can use a major league player on a rehab assignment in the minor league playoffs? That just seems wrong. Daisuke Matsuzaka vs Justin Edwards in the Carolina League playoffs. That's just not fair. KW should send Peavy to Winston-Salem to start game 2 and return the favor.
JPN366
Our guys in Kannapolis and Winston-Salem need all the good mojo they can get tonight.
ThunderBolt
I like the Barons and Kanny's chances in a 5 game series. As for the Purple Phallus, well, Loman better hit his ass off this series. Edited September 9, 2009 by Thunderbolt

JPN366
QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 06:35 PM) Brent Morel with an RBI single off Daisuke. Would Dice-K even be eligible for the postseason for the Red Sox??? If not, why is he rehabbing for an A ball team in the playoffs unless the Boston organization are just being a$$holes? Balta1701
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 05:26 PM) Would Dice-K even be eligible for the postseason for the Red Sox??? If not, why is he rehabbing for an A ball team in the playoffs unless the Boston organization are just being a$$holes? When a guy is on the DL, the roster rules change a lot. He'd be eligible if he came off the DL. Occasionally teams use the DL as a way to sneak an extra guy on that they can move on to the roster later. JPN366
I think that qualifies as a "d*** move" by the Red Sox organization.
Balta1701
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 05:51 PM) 60 day DL guys are not on the 40 man roster. Doesn't matter. If the player is on the disabled list or bereavement list, he's still postseason eligible. But...they would need to take a man off their 40 man roster to bring him on if they don't have any other openings.

Side session in Boston... just like Peavy is doing for us... Rather than screwing up the season for minor leaguers who have worked their a** off to get to the playoffs.
