greg775
That last outside pitch he coulda hammered to rf for a single. Bad, Jermaine, bad.
RME JICO
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 07:48 PM) 2003 Konerko and 2009 Rios aren't even remotely comparable, other than they both sucked. Speaking of Paulie, he is quietly putting together a nice season after that slump.
DonkeyKongerko
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 08:48 PM) YES, JUST THE OPPORTUNITY i WAS LOOKING FOR! Let's see Dye embarrass himself in a pivotal moment. Lol, i want the Sox to win but i'd hate to see you disappointed

Flash Tizzle
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 08:47 PM) kotsay has been so clutch. shame we got nothing behind him. Then again, the law of averages says Jermaine is f***ING DUE! Everything this guy hits, atleast the games I watch, seem to be line drives across the field. He's like Ross Gload's doppelganger. His line drive percentage rate must be ridiculous compared to league average. /strikeout DEAD!
kitekrazy
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 08:44 PM) He's hit before. He's made a couple of All Star teams, so he's no novice. Maybe he's stubborn. Maybe he is lacking desire like many scouts claim. Maybe he's just in a slump the size no one has ever seen before. He will eventually be better. Well us Sox fans have seen slumps like that before. It should be nothing new.
The Ginger Kid
and he chases one down and away. with the go ahead run 90 feet away. honestly, the only way we score there is with a passed ball.
Soxbadger
They had just signed Konerko to a brand new deal after 2002. 3 years 23mil I believe. But remember their payroll was drastically smaller back then.
greg775
Lots of goats again tonight. Wow, Jermaine is like Rios. Both should try to make outs and they'd stroke hits. You'd think the law of averages would have had jermaine be the hero.

Harry Chappas
Wise should have been in the game in 9th in RF and this game would have been over already. I am starting to hate Jermaine Dye which is just sad.
Soxbadger
How are 2003 Konerko and 2009 Rios not similar? Both had seasons that were completely outliers to their normal stats. I know you werent here in 2003, but most people wanted to give away Konerko for free on this board. What's amazing it is seems like White Sox pitchers had better chances for hits during interleague play than Dye or Rios have now.

If they could have given him away for free, they probably would . I believe Konerko hit .270 the second half. At least it gave the Sox some hope for a rebound which did happen. The Sox are on the hook for $60 million for Rios. If you think they wouldn't give him away to some team willing to take the entire contract, I think you are crazy. greg775
You'd almost wish Jermaine would have said he had a sore back so he wouldn't have to play at all this month. I'd rather have Danks up here even if he's not ready. All he had to do was poke a hit there, any hit. Wow.

southsider2k5
I wouldn't be surprised if Tony Pena gets a shot at being our closer next year. I think Ozzie likes using Thornton all over the place too much for him to be it.
santo=dorf
The Sox arent trading Rios. 1) If Toronto could have gotten anything for him they would have. 2) The Sox (unlike their fans) generally dont just throw a player away after 1 bad season. They understand that players have good seasons and bad seasons, and not every player is slump proof. Rios is a major part of the Sox future, regardless of how many board experts disagree. 2.
