Kalapse
QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 25, 2009 -> 12:56 PM) Sure, I am of the opinion that if the team was likely to make the playoffs, Jim would not have been moved. I saw it as pretty damn close to a white flag being raised. That doesn't really explain anything. Removing 1 player to create more playing for 4 other veterans should instill confidence in them, not send them into a death spiral. Opening up playing time for you is not an excuse to give up on the season.
YonderLaroche
The Sox barely made the playoffs last year and started the season with a old, less talented team. Vasquez, Swisher, Uribe, Crede were gone. We had Wilson Betemit, Brian Anderson, Josh Fields, Bartolo Colon instead on opening day. Quentin's been hurt all season, and probably won't get back to 08 form til next year. We acquired Peavy, but he will only pitch maybe three games, Rios hasn't done anything Brian Anderson wouldn't do yet, Tony Pena's sucked, Ramon Castro has sucked.. even with the players we acquired, it was too little too late.. This team is exactly who we thought they were. (before the season started) Edited September 25, 2009 by b-Rye
Rowand44
QUOTE (b-Rye @ Sep 25, 2009 -> 01:03 PM) Uribe, Crede were gone. Haha really? Not having those two is clearly why this team wont be in the playoffs this season.
