whitesoxfan99
Yankees win on a terrible throw by Izturis. Really should have just taken the easy out at 1st there.
MexSoxFan#1
Izturis with one of the dumbest plays in a crucial part of a postseason game, what the hell was he thinking??
whitesoxfan101
As dumb a play as I've ever seen, there is NO excuse throwing the ball to 2nd base there. Angels are going to need a miracle to win this series now, they'll have to win 4 out of 5 (or 4 in a row) against the Yankees and also have to clinch the series at Yankee Stadium. I don't think either of those is realistic.

I don't think either of those is realistic. Especially since the Yankees are flat out better than the Angels and are the best team in baseball this year. Good luck winning 4 of 5 having to face CC two more times, Petitte twice, and Burnett one more time with the Yankees having just a monster of a bullpen right now. It is basically a six inning game because if you are down going into the 7th you are screwed with Joba, Hughes, and Rivera coming up. iamshack
Yeah, even in perfect weather conditions that would have been impossible to turn two there. Add the facts that it was wet and a misplay loses you a must-win playoff game, and there is absolutely no excuse for that decision. Horrendous. Especially considering the fact that the Angels' advantage grew every inning longer the game went, because of the precarious position the Yankee bullpen was in. I think the only team that could really hang with them is the Phillies, and even they would have major issues since their bullpen is trash. knightni
This series reminds me of the '05 ALCS with the rain last night.
Balta1701
With normally sound defensive teams and normally sound pitchers/closers randomly blowing it against the Yankees, you have to wonder if they haven't just already bought that trophy. Chisoxfn
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 17, 2009 -> 10:30 PM) Yankees are the best team by a wide margin. I think the only team that could really hang with them is the Phillies, and even they would have major issues since their bullpen is trash. Wide margin. If it weren't for the Angels playing uncharacteristcaly bad defense, this series might be 2-0 the other way. Bottom line is I can't see how anyone can tell me the Yanks are head and shoulders the best team in baseball. The Twins played them competitively and the Angels have. I make no excuse, Yanks won the game, but the Angels certainly have helped them out the first two games.

whitesoxfan99
Swisher and Cano are killing the Yankees today and Jeter and ARod continue to be the only Yankees to really produce at the plate so far.

Friend of Nordhagen
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 19, 2009 -> 04:37 PM) I wonder which team batting average will be higher...Angels in 2005 ALCS or Angels in 2009 ALCS? It's like the same story every year for that team. If they go down again, will Scioscia feel some heat? Probably not, but I do wonder if they tend to press when on the ropes. whitesoxfan99
What the f*** was that pitch selection by the Yankees against Guerrero? Throw him a fastball with two strikes? That makes absolutely no sense, you should never throw him a pitch in the zone in that situation.
Chisoxfn
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 19, 2009 -> 03:23 PM) Gardy? Gardy didn't have even close to the injuries that Scioscia had and Gardenhire had a team that won one of the worse divisions in MLB history. Vladdy!!! Friend of Nordhagen
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 19, 2009 -> 05:23 PM) Gardy? Exactly. Count me as someone who likes Scioscia but feel that he has the annual luxury of managing a team with a huge payroll and some of the best prospects in the game. whitesoxfan99
Huge HR there by Posada after Joba had a terrible bottom of the 7th. Also a great call on that pitch out by Scioscia or else the Angels could be down right now.

Chisoxfn
I'm on gamecast since MLB is so f***ign dumb that they have a game in Anaheim that started at 1 something California time. Just f***ing brilliant. Looking bad for the Angels though.
