Antonio Osuna

I believe Antonio Osuna's contract is up after this coming season. Because we are so loaded when it comes to relief pitching, I see no point in resigning him, and I don't think KW will either. I'm not saying we need to deal him NOW, but what I'm thinking is that we should get something for him at least before the trading deadline instead of allowing him to walk to another team for nothing in return. I'm thinking that we could stack up our minor league system with a stud starter for Osuna. Your thoughts on what we could do with Osuna?

our bullpen is loaded???...with what??..our bullpen is one of the weaknesses in this team

as for osuna..we should let him go because after 3 arm surgeries he is not near the pitcher he was in LA...unless he reverts back to his old form 9which is possible i guess) he wont have much value at all at the trade deadline...we only got adkins for durham..what would we get for osuna???

I will continue to disagree with this notion Baggs. Our bullpen is better the most. We have a great closer in Foulke or if we get Koch. We also have solid set up men in Marte, Osuna, and Glover. I can't think of many teams with quality guys like Marte, Osuna and Glover in the pen. We also have a very good lefty specialist in Kelly Wunsch, and then may eventually have room for one of our younger relieving prospects like Edwin Almonte, Joe Valentine, Chris Sanders, Munoz, etc.

The key is for Foulke to rejuvenate himself as the closer, something I don't doubt whatsoever. Whether its Foulke or Koch, I love this bullpen.

I don't consider our bullpen bad either.

If Osuna is strong coming out of spring training, he'll be okay for the season. that has been his whole career. he'll struggle in preseason, do awfull in the regular and land himself on the DL. if he's healthy you have him, plus Foulke, who will pitch like he's capable. then there is Marte, who I've liked since day one, I don't think he's a fluke. I never liked Wunsch, but he proved this past year what he can do when healthy.

the 5th guy in the pen is Glover, who can be and has been a strong reliever over the past couple years.

then of course if we get a starter, you talking about Biddle, Rauch, and possibly one of the several minor league relievers we have filling in.

I think our bullpen will be pretty good this year and for many years. I don't think we are amongst the league best, but it isn't a weakness.

as far as Osuna.

if we are out of the playoff hunt, there is no doubt he will be traded, but pending how he plays is what we will get.

people refer back to that Durham trade, which was terrible, but we got some decent guys in the Howry, Lofton, and Alomar deals. I'm sure we can get something decent for Osuna if he performs.
