whitesoxfan99
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 08:46 PM) That one, on the other hand, is gone in most parks. That ball was killed, CC has missed his spots badly a few times tonight and Utley has taken advantage when he has.

whitesoxfan99
Is it just me or is Phil Hughes having to throw to a smaller strike zone than Sabathia and Lee? Every pitch to Victorino has looked good to me.
SoxAce
It's been the Lee/Utley show and it's been fun to watch.

MexSoxFan#1
You get the feeling the Phillies are not the least bit intimidated by NY,I didn't get that same feeling from Minny or LA. witesoxfan
The other side of that is that Marte got some great calls against Utley. I thought strike 1 was a ball, and strike 2 was clearly a ball.

whitesoxfan99
Hung the curveball and Ibanez gets the base hit. This Phillies lineup just kills you if you make mistakes.
witesoxfan
I think the Phillies are a bit underrated again. It's going to be interesting to see what Pedro does tomorrow, but with Cliff Lee on their side, and Sabathia quite honestly not nearly as good as Lee is, they have a chance to take all 3 of those. It's only one game, but the Phillies chances of winning got astronomically better (assuming whoever comes in to pitch the 9th can hold a 4-run lead). I'd like to hear this.
witesoxfan
I know it's cool to get Lee a shutout, especially with how efficient he's been and how little he's labored, but don't you want to save his arm for game 4, even if he only goes out there and throws 10 pitches? Have Madson or Park go out, hell have Lidge go out there...I think any of those 3 can get you through the 9th without giving up 4 runs (and maybe 5 if Victorino can get Ruiz home here). witesoxfan
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 10:02 PM) How is Sabathia not nearly as good as Lee? I'd like to hear this. Just this postseason. He's just seemed much more hittable overall, and looked worse tonight too (though he only gave up the 2 homers). The Yankees never really had a chance to score, and the Phils had atleast the one chance. And, though barely, the numbers do back it up. Sabathia has been fantastic and is a fantastic pitcher, I just think Lee is the superior pitcher at this point in time.

whitesoxfan99
Yankees bullpen outside of Rivera has really struggled this postseason. What looked like a big edge they had going into the WS could actually turn out to be a weakness.
Jordan4life_2007
Wait a minute? You mean a team that features a former CY, last year's NLCS/WS MVP, the 2006 NL MVP, the 2007 NL MVP, arguably the best 2B in baseball, and three other all-stars has the audacity to be waxing the mighty Yankees at Yankee stadium? How can this be?
MexSoxFan#1
Lee was a monster tonight...if I'm the Yankees,I'd be worried of the BP,they looked awful tonight.
