southsider2k5
So who wants to throw their predictions for this NBA season out there, or just for the Bulls?
Balta1701
Artest signing is a disaster.
knightni
Shaq wears out physically and in the media with Cleveland by February. LeBron has to carry the team by himself into the playoffs again. Bulls win 38, somehow get the 8 seed.
BigEdWalsh
Bulls = 73-9 A bit more realistically, 43-39.
Balta1701
Rose is out for a couple weeks and isnt' 100% until the end of december. Bulls miss the playoffs after an awful start.
danman31
Luol Deng has a solid season, making up for the loss of Ben Gordon and the Bulls finish around .500 to get in the playoffs.

DBAHO
I'll go for the whole thing. Tie-breaker b/w Toronto and Washington for the 8th spot. Steve9347
The Bulls are mediocre, yet again, but of course sneak into the back end of the playoffs behind the improved play of Rose. All off-season we hear about rumors of the Bulls and (iinsert big name FA here). In the end, Bosh signs with Miami and we're SOL and the merry-go-round continues. danman31
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 23, 2009 -> 02:31 AM) I'll go for the whole thing. Tie-breaker b/w Toronto and Washington for the 8th spot. I thought it was weird to see that many teams with winning records, but your records are extremely far from possible. Every division has a combined winning record. The entire league is 206 games over .500. Take several wins from every one and you are getting closer.
nitetrain8601
Strictly on the season, Bulls beat 38-44. Barely miss playoffs. Deng is dung. Salmons barely misses the all-star game, Rose makes all-star team, people call for VDN's head, and Bulls look to dump Tyrus at least at the break. BTW, Boozer will be the biggest name traded. Dick Allen
The Bulls are in NBA no man's land. Good enough to make the playoffs. Not good enough to win. Not bad enough to add impact players through the draft. Unless something crazy happens and Gar Foreman and Paxson can pull a Danny Ainge, they are pretty much screwed. That's an excellent comparison. Boston was just like the Bulls from about 1990 to 2004. Mediocre but still a playoff team.

Isn't the upcoming free agent class supposed to be the Bulls chance for that? Isn't Derrick Rose supposed to become an impact player? I'm not saying the Bulls are set for the future, but there are opportunities for them and they just had the top pick in the draft a year ago. If the Bulls cut Thomas loose next summer they can offer a max deal, assuming they don't trade anyone during this season. The issue is going to be...how much does Bosh want to leave Toronto? Or Wade leave Miami? Or can Amare ever stay healthy and decide to play defense? Or what do we do with Deng after signing Lebron (I can live with that problem). Anyway, yeah they can do it, but they have to be able to close the deal.
ZoomSlowik
I'll throw in a bunch of Bulls predictions... -Bulls finish in the 38-42 win range and sneak into the playoffs. They promptly get blasted by Orlando or Boston. -Rose averages about 21-8, starts drawing more fouls, and starts showing SOME life on defense. -Noah becomes a dependable player up front, averaging roughly a double-double with close to 2 blocks per game. -Tyrus continues to be schizophrenic, looking like an unstoppable monster some nights and a career bench player on others. He ends up averaging about 13-7 and someone gives him 9 mil a year in the off-season (hopefully not the Bulls). -Deng averages 15-6 on about 46% shooting, solid but not enough to make a real difference or live up to his contract. -Much like a young Tyrus, Johnson will have flashes of stellar play but not be consistent and spend more time on the bench than many will like. -At least 3 above average players will be traded at the deadline, likely for 50 cents on the dollar in salary dumps. None of them will end up on the Bulls and that will aggravate their fans to no end. Edited October 24, 2009 by ZoomSlowik

ZoomSlowik
QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 23, 2009 -> 08:27 PM) Trade me Thomas then Zoom. Ha, his steals and blocks have WAY more value in fantasy than they do in the real world.
Balta1701
QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 23, 2009 -> 06:27 PM) Trade me Thomas then Zoom. Frankly, the Bulls should really consider trying to move him this season if he does anything other than getting benched. The odds of them matching a RFA offer on him next summer aren't good. Key part of my statement: he's a decent option in FANTASY sports. I don't have to worry about his basketball IQ or suspect basketball skills as long as he's racking up steals and blocks.
