Bulls 37-45 and miss the playoffs by two games.

Eh, I wasn't too far off. Really, if this team had stayed remotely healthy, they very well could have won 50 games. Noah would get my vote for most improved in the entire NBA this year, and Rose has started to take games over. Gibson is the guy who came out of no where to have a very good rookie season.

If Noah and Gibson don't get plantar fascitis and Rose was healthy to start the season, this would be a 50 win team and everyone who posted in this thread would look dumb. This team is very promising for the future.

Now give Cleveland a series and go sign Chris Bosh please.

Fans from every team can point to multiple injuries and say the same thing.

I was talking about your injury excuse.

Is it not true? Noah was the leading rebounder in the NBA when he got hurt and was like 3rd in the league in double-doubles. And Rose clearly stepped it up in November when his ankle was finally healthy.

Either way, my point stays the same. I highly doubt people were expecting Noah to get injured when they made their predictions.

You could be right. Although I don't know if I'd add 9 wins to their total if they were healthy all year. I mean, they lost to the Nets twice. No excuse for that.

Ya, I'll give you that. It's inexcusable. But the team was firmly planted in the 5th seed of the East before we suffered those injuries. We were one of the hottest teams in the league at one point.

Then we had that horrible stretch which included a starting lineup of something like Pargo/Law/Murray/Gibson/Miller.

I honestly think 50 would have happened if you aren't talking about Rose, Noah, and Deng missing decent periods of time, along with Hinrich and planters for Taj. Trust me, I was one of the biggest doubters of this team coming into this season, but they have way exceeded anything I expected, despite all of that.

Kevin Durant has had the award locked up for the last, I don't know, 5 months?

I said Most Improved Player (MIP), not Most Valuable Player (MVP), or in the running. (though I know where your getting at, but it's hard to win most improved when you were already known as a star in the league for a while, since you won the ROY award)

Though from what I'm hearing, most people (or "experts") have Aaron Brooks or George Hill winning it, though I would personally give it to either Andrew Bogut (the injury might have cost him too), or Marc Gasol who is having an under the radar year.

Speaking of MVP, though it's LeBron's to lose, I still don't know why Howard or Durant don't get more love/consideration for it.

MIP is what I was talking about. Lebron should be the unanimous MVP. But Durant is the heavy favorite to get MIP (not that the MIP is some great award). Scoring champion at 21? It's a lock.

He scored 25 ppg last season, the MIP usually goes to someone that was either crappy or mediocre and becomes a good player.

I think your nuts, I do think Durant is awesome but I dont see him contending for the MIP award at all.

Yes he is nuts. Great poster though, my boy, though at times can look very bad in future threads. (don't get me started on the Beckham promotion to AAA thread.) He does have a point though if you want to argue Durant went from a star to a superstar this year. Points and rebounds went up (more-so points) not to mention his + efficiency (in game, getting calls, PER, etc..) is off the charts (defense improved as well). Hes had an amazing year, but I still don't see how a guy who was well known for 3 years now, pretty much a top 5 player in the game (even with the small market, but quality nba people and fans know who he is) takes that award from Hill, Brooks, Noah, Bogut, Blatche, or Laundry. By his logic, I'd give it to Rajon Rondo personally.

Whatever. I mean, it's not exactly a prestigious award anyway. And nobody ever wants to win it more than once. Who won it last year? The year before that? Who won it in 2005? I'm sure most would have to look it up. If they decide to stick to the script and give it to a guy simply because he was a scrub the year before, then a guy like Bogut will probably get it (and Bogut is not that much better than he was two years ago). But Durant went from high scorer on a terrible team to superstar on a 50 win team in one year. That's what I call improvement. But like I said, MIP is about as meaningless as the Sporstmanship award.

C'mon, Ace. Ain't no human being on earth had Durant as one of the top 5 players in the game this time last year. Hell, he might not have been in the top 15. Now people have him ranked ahead of Kobe. And, yes, Rondo is a good choice. He totally slipped my mind for some reason. But I still stand by my opinion. No player in the game has improved over the course of the last year moreso than Kevin Durant.

Well I meant top 5 in the game THIS year actually. He was more known as an up and comming superstar from last season, and some people did had him in their top 15 or top 20. There's no doubt now he's even higher on people's list.

I actually think OKC will make the playoffs as the #8 seed. I expect a huge dropoff from Phoenix, and that 8th spot is there for the taking if the Thunder can get good play out of their young talent. It would be a great story, and I hope it works out for them.

As for the Bulls, they are going to be a very similar team to last year, a .500, border line playoff team. Hopefully we see good things out of Johnson and Gibson, hopefully Noah and Thomas show something, and hopefully Derrick Rose can get and stay healthy. I think Deng will be a good surprise and Salmons a bad one, and the Bulls will actually have a better frontcourt than backcourt for once.

To me, Cleveland, Boston, LA, and the Spurs are the 4 best teams in the league by far. I expect a dropoff from Orlando, and I also am not sure Portland is as good as people think (they'll be in the playoffs, but I am not sure they are the 3rd best team in the West).

Mixed bag of predictions for me this year in terms of accuracy. Oh well, at least I didn't get everything wrong.

I'd disagree.

Offensively, his numbers may only have improved a little, but Ball Don't Lie said he was the BEST defensive player in the NBA this season, in terms of he was very, very hard to score against in the low post. You can credit Skiles for that, because before he was argubly a big white stiff who was too slow to play effective D.
