knightni
Fill out a list of your top 20 favorite bands or solo artists in rock music - in order 1 to 20 (one being you most favorite) - and message it to me by Monday November 9. Post 1959. No country, rap, or r&b unless they are a rock combo. Kid Rock, Lynard Skynard, Limp Bizkit, Korn etc. Metal counts as rock. As does some disco, funk, soul, and pop. Felix
I can guarantee I'm the only one who puts Frank Zappa at #1 (although Jim might have him on his list) Edited November 3, 2009 by Felix

BigEdWalsh
This was WAY too hard to trim it down to 20! Incidentally, I had Mothers of Invention in the top 10.... Yikes! I forgot about Procol Harum....they wouldn't wouldn't have survived the cut anyway. Edited November 3, 2009 by BigEdWalsh
SoxAce
QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Nov 3, 2009 -> 02:53 PM) This was WAY too hard to trim it down to 20! Agreed and I'm not as big of a rock fan as others here. I can't even imagine what they are going through trying to narrow bands down and leaving out others. Cali
Is there really gonna be any doubt who number 1 is? Kinda takes the fun out of it when you know the beatles will get the top spot. I'm not a fan sans a few songs but a lot of people are. There should be. Top 20 besides the beatles list.

Hopefully they're considered the same as Frank Zappa. I probably should have had him on my list as The Mothers of Invention, but instead I just had him as FZ so his post-Mothers years were also included

John Lennon is my all-time favorite artist but I didn't list him...just that band he played in.

FlaSoxxJim
I think I split out Todd Rundgren and Utopia who both made my list, but FZ was the Mothers (apologies to Jimmy Carl Black the Indian of the Group) and yeah, his whole body of work falls under the category FZ. FlaSoxxJim
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 3, 2009 -> 04:09 PM) You could list solo artist. Hell, I had Jimi Hendrix on my list. I did too, but in my mind that includes the Experience stuff, band of Gypsies, and solo/mixed lineup groups. But for folks like Lennon and McCartney, a vote for the Beatles is not a vote for Wings or Plastic Ono Band, or a vote for Gabriel-era Genesis is not a vote for Gabriel as solo artist. And a vote for Milli should in no way be construed as a vote for Vanilli. Edited November 3, 2009 by FlaSoxxJim
