I wish the Royals would have traded him instead of dicking him around and moving him to the OF. He was a solid 3B (hell of a lot better than Teahen), and he's still very young (what is he, 25, 26?). Again, Williams and company f***ed up the scouting report on Swisher and thought they were getting a different type of player. You win some, you lose some. I'm just glad he realized that the Sox were going to need a replacement for Thome in the near future; he just got the wrong guy. It's really just stupid. I imagine the entire point of the rule was to get young players paid more quickly, but instead of helping them, it's just hurting them. The problem is, you have to have some set guideline for service time that these guys do have to get more than the minimum raise. If you say it's 3 full years of service, teams can simply keep a player down for like the first 5-10 days of a season, and then call them up, and they'll fall short. Maybe you can go to some sort of arbitration case, but that gets messy and creates bad blood between the player and the team. Watching them is kinda like watching a fast-paced team NBA or college team that just launches 3's all game long. They just go up their hacking. They don't wait. I definitely see your point and agreeing some tweeking needs to be done, but I also thing with no salary cap, there has to be some protection for the smaller market clubs. Kendry Morales fractured his lower left leg while celebrating his game-ending grand slam in the 10th inning to give the Los Angeles Angels a 5-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Saturday. Morales is scheduled to undergo surgery on Sunday. He was leading the club in batting average (.290), home runs (11), total bases (94) and RBI (39). Morales connected with one out and circled the bases to a waiting celebration. He leaped toward home plate and landed awkwardly. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list. Another option is to promote Hank Conger (a catcher) and play Napoli at first. Neither is ideal. Honestly, i'm starting to see how someone like Konerko would appeal to them.
