Chisoxfn
A's have some nice arms but they don't have the bats to contend and some of those arms will end up flopping, getting hurt or eventually getting traded. The A's have spent some money internationally though and that could help them.
ThunderBolt
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 05:40 PM) Dallas Braden looked really sharp yesterday. The A's staff is going to have to carry them this year. The offense certainly isn't. I'll say also that Kurt Suzuki has turned into a lot better of a player then i ever thought he'd be. I'll say also that Kurt Suzuki has turned into a lot better of a player then i ever thought he'd be. If I were calling the shots the Sox would have drafted him. The big thing is he's going to have to hit really well as a catcher to make up for some of his defensive limitations.
Milkman delivers
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) Joe West I F***ing love you now. Ooh, the responses from the players (and all but Schilling's last paragraph) really ticked me off. You really can feel the sense of entitlement in their remarks. Balta1701
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 05:45 PM) Ooh, the responses from the players (and all but Schilling's last paragraph) really ticked me off. You really can feel the sense of entitlement in their remarks. I was listening to the Braves announcers heading home today discussing those remarks. Supposedly, at some point one guy they knew brought a stopwatch to the game and simply timed all of the stuff the Yankees/Sox were doing in-between bats, whether arguing with the umps or stuff like Nomar's glove adjustments, whatever (his word was "Preening"). The total was about 45 minutes.

Funny thing is, he hasn't been quite a stud in the bigs as I thought he'd be. Edited April 9, 2010 by SoxAce

Not a surprise. I figure Javy will have an ERA around 4.50-4.75. But in his defense, I think the Rays might be the most complete team in the AL. They're going to cut up quite a few pitchers this year.

Jordan4life_2007
QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 11:45 PM) I think anything above 4 from Javy is reasonable. Unfortunately, these Yankees fans forgot just how bad he was with them in 04. It was so predictable. The Yankees scored a couple to make it 2-0 heading into the bottom of the 4th. How does Javy respond? He gives up a 5-spot. He's getting killed over at nyyfans.com.

That's what I love about the Yankees. Every year, they make at least 1 or 2 decisions that so obviously will turn out badly.
Jordan4life_2007
Anybody see highlights of David Price last night? Only word that comes to mind is "electric." He was topping out at 97 MPH last night. He had every pitch in his arsenal workin' for him.
