That's a bold statement knowing our GM, but I'm right on board that ship with ya. I'd say CJ Retherford would go to Tampa now that Iwamura is gone. He's now our best trading piece with Beckham at 2nd and Viciedo to take 3rd post Teahen.

Tampa just got Sean Rodriguez in the Kazmir trade to be their second basemen. If we trade for Crawford without including Danks, it'll probably be Hudson going.

regarding the potential Crawford trade, is that just something that Cowley made up or is that a legit trade in the works?

Cowley is most likely on the bottom of the list of people with insider info on potential Sox moves, behind the guy who takes out the garbage, and the guy who cleans Kenny's windshield as he gets off of the expressway.

Personally, I'd put Teahan in RF, leave Beckham and Alexei at 3B and SS, and see what C.J. can do at 2B.

That's a pretty big offensive downgrade at 2 positions.

Murton is an interesting low cost option.

While Retherford can possibly match the offensive output produced by Getz, there is no way Teahen will come to the production we are used from Dye.

If we made all these moves last year to WIN in 2010 I think they will bring a potent bat to play RF via trade/FA signing.

Unfortunately...with what we got from JD in the 2nd half of last year, if Teahen hits .220 he'd be an upgrade over that.

Byrnes , Dejesus and Murton all interest me. More Byrnes and Dejesus than Murton. Good gloves and solid bats. Both would cost ~$4mil

$4M?!? Where'd that number come from? If we're really wanting to dump Linebrink I could see swapping him and still getting some money back for Byrnes. Could turn out to be a wash since rumors are AZ is willing to just dump his $11M salary. There's worse options out there IMO. He's got a lot to prove this year so might not be a bad option. Plus....he's "grindy".

I was assuming AZ would eat some of Byrnes salary. $4mil may be a stretch.

CF do not grow on trees, so prior to the Sox signing Rios, Carl was a decent idea.

Now the positives to Crawford (LF Defense, Prototypical Leadoff Hitter, Speed) are great, but he does not come free and will not be cheap, especially moving forward.

What made the idea of Rios special was that he can play CF and out-produce almost center fielders offensively, while still playing average or better defense. If you put a player with typical CF stats in LF, this pretty much negates the advantage to Rios and makes his contract seem even more ridiculous.

I live, eat, sleep and breathe defense, but I feel the White Sox need big power/obp in both the corner outfield spots to get their value out of Rios.

The only problem is that with KW penciling Teahen in at 3B this makes for a either no prototyipical leadoff hitter or having to find a spot for one in the OF.
