RoyHobbs
Maybe he can help Alexei get more cerebral at Shortstop...
Marky Mark
Not a bad idea for a back up. Just a question of how much though that would determine if its a good move or not.

ChWRoCk2
As a defensive replacement I don't mind him. Just hope he doesn't cost much.
daggins
I was kind of thinking it might be nice to get a john mcdonald type elite defender for backup, so this would be nice. Maybe he can teach Alexei a thing or two.
GoSox05
Back up infielder. He can play SS/2B/3B.
hogan873
Interesting. Does this mean the end of Jayson Nix as a Sox?
southsider2k5
QUOTE (daggins @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 10:51 AM) I was kind of thinking it might be nice to get a john mcdonald type elite defender for backup, so this would be nice. Maybe he can teach Alexei a thing or two. Bingo. That was my very first thought. This guy is reknown as one of the smartest players to ever play the game. If you can bring a guy like this in to teach your very young IF a few things (both Becks and Ramirez) this is win win.

BigEdWalsh
QUOTE (daggins @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 09:51 AM) I was kind of thinking it might be nice to get a john mcdonald type elite defender for backup, so this would be nice. Maybe he can teach Alexei a thing or two. I noticed that last year he played 2B, SS and 3B. Prior, he had really only played SS. For his defense alone this could be a pretty good move. clyons
Now if we can get Charles Nagy, Matt Williams, Carlos Baerga and Manny, our Indian collection will be complete.

ThunderBolt
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 11:59 AM) I am sure he will do his filling in, but to me, this is a great move as essentially another coach. That's the key here. Visquez literally tutored Elvis Andrus last year. This is pretty much like what Lindsay Hunter does for the Bulls, i wouldn't be suprised if this wasn't to help transition Beckham and Alexei into defensive roles. daggins
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 10:59 AM) Wow I didn't think Jayson was that bad. Platoon bat, decent defense, a bit of power, poor contact. He isn't a starter, but he isn't a backup either. Just seems like a bad fit. southsider2k5
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 11:06 AM) I absolutely love this move. Bye bye, Nix. If Nix could play decent defense at anywhere besides second base, he would be a great bench player. It is hard to justify a bench spot for a guy who can only play 2B.
