Alomar - Defense/bat/speed

Baines - Clutch/bat/defense in early career

Dawson - All around great

Blyleven - Good pitcher who fell 13 W's short of the magic number, but had 3000 + K's

Martinez - Great bat

Mattingly - Defense/bat

Raines - Ungodly speed/bat

Ventura - Defense/good bat

Rose - Seriously, as steroids have shown, it can be a lot worse. And least he cheated after he played.

McGwire - I put him on because as knightni said, no positive test for anything banned at the time.

However, only ones I see getting in this year are Raines/Alomar/Dawson.

Roberto Alomar is a near lock IMO regardless if people did vote for him cuz he rocked a sox uni.

His numbers compare favorably to some of the greatest 2B of all time (Joe Morgan), he was unbelievable at his peak and he's one of the greatest defensive 2B of all time. Yeah, he's a lock.

12 All Star games (9 starts)

10 Gold Glove awards

4 Silver Sluggers

5 finishes in the top 6 of MVP voting

1 World Series ring (hit. 480/.519/.640/1.159 during the series, if it weren't for Molitor he would have been the MVP)

.313 career postseason hitter

Over a 10 year span ('92-01) he put up a .315/.393/.482/.875 line and won 9 gold gloves, he had four .900+ OPS seasons in the time span

When you're asked directly if you used and you refuse to give an answer you're not going to get a lot of sympathy.

No sympathy = negative bias then, by the writers.

You go by stats and drug tests when they played - not years later.

If MLB presents a valid positive drug test on McGwire that was taken before he retired, then I could see a reason other than negative public/media opinion to exclude him from the Hall.

I never even thought McGwire's stats were HOF worthy. Yippee for homers, but that is it.

Also doesn't help when Canseco (who has been right on the money with his accusations and was a long time teammate) your own brother, Sosa (who not only was part of the chase and already got caught, but used to work out together in the offseason) and ex fiance/wife claim you were on steroids as well. And didn't he already get busted for an amphetamine but it wasn't "illegal" yet?

Yea, but the thing is, can you be penalized for something not banned (though wasn't it illegal in the US? I don't know), and I think thats what all the people refer to when they say he did 'roids.

Also, McGwire has one of the crappiest brothers ever.

He's one of the top 5 players I've ever seen.

That seems to be a good question. So I will add my own questions, if it was OK, why did guys hide it? Why didn't one, just one, come out and say, hey this isn't banned so I'm using steroids? They all hid it. Many hid it from their teammates. That tells me a lot about whether the drug users thought they were doing something wrong or not.

A person's answer to that will determined whether they think someone should be held accountable for their drug use.

That's still opinion and hearsay.

There is no concrete proof.

Roberto Alomar

Bert Blyleven

Andre Dawson

Jack Morris

I wish I could say Mattingly was because he was so incredible for a good amount of time, but that back injury cut him short.

Raines falls short in my opinion. He had seven great seasons, and then he kinda was just there. I mean, it's a real close call, but I gotta say no.

Barry Larkin--He'll probably get in, but I'd probably want another year to think about it if I was a voter.

Lee Smith doesn't pass the smell test with me. Relief pitching is the toughest call. I don't think Sutter belongs in there either.

Edgar Martinez--no way. I really think he was a roider anyway.

Part of me thinks if Ozzie Smith is in, so should Alan Trammell. I could go either way with him.

McGriff and Murphy both fall a little short too. The rest--dump them, including McGwire. His only criteria is homers, and that was done by cheating. He's a piece of s***.

That's not concrete at all.

There were no test results, there were no syringes, there were no photos.

Doesn't matter to me. If he was so innocent then he could of said so when asked. But he chose "not to talk about the past."
