Yeah, I am sure I didn't spell it right either. I tried typing it three times, I THOUGHT I had the right one in there. Perhaps not.

It took me a while to remember how to spell it correctly too.

If it was a spoken word quiz, I'm fairly certain I would have gotten another 10 or so. The only areas I was truly lacking knowledge was central/southern Africa (where I got some, but a bunch I didn't), and the Carribbean (It's always confusing to me how many of those small islands are actually countries).

Another thing is, countries change names, which is weird. For example, I typed in Congo - no response. Typed in Zaire - no response. Typed in Democratic Republic of Congo, and that worked.

Same thing with Burma. I typed in Burma, but it put it in there as Myanmar. I'm not sure which name they go by.

Because Congo is not a country, it is too ambiguous. There is the Democratic Republic of Congo (sporcle accepts DRC) and Republic of the Congo.

I've taken that quiz a few times. Best I did was missing just two. I'm basically a human map. Easiest way to do it is go region by region. I always seem to miss one of the western African countries like Togo or Cote D'Ivoire. Last time i took it I was pissed because I forgot Saudi Arabia and Italy.

Its Myanmar now but Burma is often accepted on Sporcle. Same with Ceylon for Sri Lanka, Chinese Taipei for Taiwan and both the French and English spellings of East Timor and Ivory Coast. Also an FYI if you want to type Democratic Republic of Congo save time and type DRC. Same with CAR for Central African Republic.

Yeah I accidentally got that one by trying to type Dominican Republic. Or are those the same country?

Apparently 2 different countries b/c at the end it told me I missed D.R.

133.

Also, there were at least 3 countries I typed it that it didn't recognize for some reason. And, there were another 3-ish I couldn't spell right but knew. And, its not 100% right. There is country Dominica, for example. And it misspells Phillpines.

Damn, I need to brush up on my caribbean states, and parts of Africa.

the island nation of Dominica

Well I'll be damned. Heh. I got that right and shoudn't have, but missed the DR because I thought that it used that name on the quiz. So I guess it evens out.

Damn Caribbean, screwing me up.

I only took it once - now that I know some spellings and little tricks of typing, I might try it again and see if I can improve.

Also, I could have sworn I typed in Ivory Coast, and it was rejected - maybe it wants that French spelling.

If you are older than 16 and don't know who the majority is in Congress at any given time you need to be sent back to the 8th grade.
