He_Gawn
I'll be in Vegas for my gf's birthday from December 30th - January 2. We'll be staying at the Trump and I just wanted to know if anyone had any tips and places that I wouldn't want to miss while I'm there. Good bar suggestions would be appreciated. Steve9347
QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 12:02 PM) I'll be in Vegas for my gf's birthday from December 30th - January 2. You should purchase one of those cool bar packages for the Palms prior to your arrival at Vegas. We went like two months ago and got ours (like $60 for the full pass) and you don't wait in any lines and can check out some really really cool clubs (Playboy, Ghostbar, Moon, Rain). It was a good time. Also, learn how to play blackjack, you can make some good money if you have the odds memorized.
ChiSox_Sonix
Pure is a good club. A friend of mine worked there for a few years. Cathouse in the Luxor isn't bad either, I went there when we went last November. For $300 you can get a table, a bottle, champagne and a waitress in the private area upstairs. MGM usually has some pretty good shows. Definitely look into that before you go. You can often get cheaper tickets from vendors on the street. They're cheaper but since they are last minute sales they don't even know what they'll have available until the day of. Also, Planet Hollywood has a champagne brunch every day. It's like $20-ish and it costs 3 or 4 more to add champagne but when we went we stayed for like 3 hours cuz we kept getting champagne served to us. SouthsideDon48
To the OP, I don't think you and I have the same interests because you seem to want to go to all these nightclubs and bars. I actually can't stand nightclubs and bars, but I DO like strip clubs. I've gone to Vegas twice (in 2006 and 2007), so here's some of the thinks I've seen/done that you might be interested in if you want other stuff to do: (Before I forget, bring a hoodie or a light jacket, it can be a little chilly in Dec/Jan) *Clubs: As I said, I hate nightclubs, and one nightclub I went to was a club called Jet. It was super-lame and a big waste of my time. They even had dancers dressed up in easter bunny outfits (in December) dancing on the stage. Lame. I didn't go to many other clubs, tho, cause I spent most of my time at the poker tables. *Strip Clubs: I think the best strip club in Vegas with the hottest girls is the Olympic Garden strip club right on Las Vegas Blvd inbetween the main strip and Fremont. It's located near a lot of quickie wedding chapels and it's on the same side of the street as Sahara, Harrahs, Flamingo, etc. The lst time I went to Olympic Garden, the midget guy from Jackass was there having a fun time as well. It was awesome. I also went to lame strip clubs called Treasures and Deja Vu and it was very lame. At Treasures the dancers doesn't even grind on you, and Deja Vu is always crowded and has ugly girls. *Buffets: My two favorite buffets are at Planet Hollywood and Bellagio. They are both also among the most expensive buffets in Vegas at about $50 bucks. Be prepared to bring extra money for buffets for your girlfriend if you're not planning on going dutch. The Bellagio buffet is unbelievable and I'm still craving their delicious BBQ'd Swordfish. Also, whenever you see gelato (looks like ice cream) at buffets at Vegas, try it, it's delicious. Poker: If you like poker, Caesar's Palace has a real nice poker room that's so big with so many tables that it would take your breath away. They also have cool giant black-and-white portraits of all the poker greats on the walls. I was able to name all of them except for two or 3. The Venetian also has a nice poker room as well and both the Venetian and Caesar's has some of the best $300 poker tournaments in Vegas. Treasure Island also has a nice poker room, but I thought it was a little too small and dark for my tastes. Planet Hollywood had a real nice poker room in 2007, but they've since moved the poker room to another part of the casino. MGM Grand also has a very nice poker room. You can also play cheap low stakes poker right on the sidewalk at O'Shea's. Other casinos has average poker rooms, but nothing too spectacular. Most of my time in Vegas was spent at poker rooms playing tournaments. Usually I played a tournament at one casino then went to another casino for another tournament and so on. Fremont: Away from the strip, with just a bus ride, is Fremont, the old part of Vegas. If you go there, make sure you go to Mermaid's for their deep-fried twinkies and deep-fried oreos. Believe me, they'e delicious. Just don't make the mistake I did of eating them before you go to the buffet at the Bellagio, because it will fill you up. If you're in Fremont around midnight, you can go to a restaurant in Binion's for their $3.99 steak and egg mignight special. You can also play games like roulette for the lowest stakes at Fremont. Also, make sure you catch the light show they have with their lighted canopy. It's pretty awesome. Transportation: Unless you're planning on going to places far from the Strip or Fremont, the only times you should need a taxi is when you're going to and from the airport. Use the double-decker buses that make their rounds up and down the strip, you can get a 24-hour pass for $5 and ride as many times as you can. I suggest you ride the bus at least once at night time when all the lights from the casinos look their best, it's an awesome view and it's almost like driving through a neightborhood looking at christmas lights. There's also another form of transportation, the Monorail, but it costs more. The monorail is connected to most of the casinos on one side of the strip, such as Harrah's, Flaningo, Bally's, MGM, etc. It's quicker than the bus, but you gotta try and find the stops. Shopping: There's shops and vendors all over Vegas, but I think your girlfriend might have a fun time browsing the shops in Caesar's Palace and the Fashion Show Mall, located between Caesar's and Treasure Island. One thing about Caesar's Palace, I was wandering around by myself one time checking out all the shops and I got lost and couldn't find my way out of the place. It was that big. Stripper/Escort cards: if you walk along casinos like Flamingo and Imperial Palace, you'll come across a lot of people (usually mexicans) trying to hand you little business cards advertising the services of strippers and escorts. Have fun collecting them, they make fun little novelty trading cards. Amusement Rides: If you wanna ride a roller coaster or some other thrill rides, go to casinos like the Stratosphere or New York New York. It's pretty fun. If you wanna ride little kiddie rides or play midway games, go to Circus Circus. You can also see some shows at various casinos such as Penn and Teller at Rio or you can go to the Madam Tusaud's wax museum at the Venetian, or even ride on a gondola on canals at the Venetian as well. Now, the last time I went there was before City Center was built, so I don't know anything about City Center, but I'm pretty sure there's lots of stuff you can explore there. You'll have a blast, and there's lots of stuff you can do there besides just going to clubs and bars and getting drunk.

SoxFan562004
LOVE O'Shea's, great atmosphere and cheaper tables. Trump, I believe, is a little down past Wynn and Encore, so you may have to walk/cab to some things. Really enjoy Pure, went there last year after a good winning day and VIP'd it up, tons of fun!! Have fun, Vegas is a blast!!

If you can, do the Night-Club in the Wynn Encore, its called Excess and is a s***load of fun. Other great nightclubs are Pure (Caesars), Tao (Venetian), and Tryste (Wynn). If you want to hit up an amazing buffet, do the Wynn...its pricey, but worth it.

Marky Mark
Get a Las Vegas Power Pass. It may seem like an expensive one time price, but it gets you into a lot of stuff for free (i.e. Rollercoasters, theme parks, Madam Tussauds, Siegfried and Roy's, Vegas Zoo, and a bunch of others)

Tuna
IDK man, when I walk into the big casinos I don't feel like I can win. Everything is so done up and I start thinking of all the poor schmucks (that thought they were going to win) it took to build that place. The electric bill alone has to be unreal. I don't want to contribute. When I go to O'sheas it seems like a neighborhood bar with gambling...everything from beer pong to guitar hero, you can't beat it. When I go back in January I'm staying at TheHotel @ Mandalay Bay but I'll be doing my gambling at O'sheas.
