Nunnigan
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 10:24 AM) Whoever said Pierre in LF, Rios in CF, Jones in RF and Quentin at DH is probably right. Minimize Quentin's injury risk and the defense is a pretty big improvement over that monstrosity we had last season. I would be sick if Ozzie plans to make Jones an everyday OFer
Friend of Nordhagen
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 10:24 AM) Whoever said Pierre in LF, Rios in CF, Jones in RF and Quentin at DH is probably right. Minimize Quentin's injury risk and the defense is a pretty big improvement over that monstrosity we had last season. Except then Quentin has to sit on the bench and stew about his last at-bat. Oh, the intensity.

ozzfest
id rather have matsui at 6 mill a year than pierre at 5 mill. get o hudson, lead him off, beckham goes back to third and teahen goes to the bench

maggliopipe
Of course it depends on the pitchers given up but this works for me. Pierre for 2 years at $4mil pern(Olney says $3mil in 2010, $5mil in 2011), then hopefully by 2012 Mitchell is ready to step into the leadoff role. I do wonder though, if they were already at their payroll limit, and they've added another $7mil between Pierre and Putz, if these come at the expense of dumping Bobby. Rowand44
Love to see who we gave up. Not thrilled about this move at all but he's definitely better than the options we had. Better not have gave up much.
JorgeFabregas
The White Sox don't have a whole lot of top pitching prospects. I'm not too worried about whoever they gave up.
Harry Chappas
People need to stop worrying about the payroll. This is the old $0.50 argument yet he seems to always find the smart money when it is needed. He will play poor to get cash with players and then add the prospect wheather it is Ryan Rupe, Royce Ring or Ryan Meaux to give the team giving the cash something to hope for. Jenks will not be a salary dump. This trade came about because the Dodgers could not get a better offer and KW most likely forced their hand. I think Vlad Guerrero comes here to DH. The bench is looking pretty loaded now if there is a backup catcher signed. If it is Buck, won't the Sox then have two of the three pieces that KC got for Beltran? The Ginger Kid
Offensively speaking, I'm very happy with this signing. Watched a lot of Pierre in LA and the guy is scrappy at the plate and can make things happen on the bases. He annoys the hell out of pitchers and has great instincts. And he never made waves when he was sent to the bench for Manny. Plus, he's one of the best bunters I've seen. Nice to see a guy who can do the little things come to the club. So long Scott, hello JP.

chisox2334
Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times has learned that the Dodgers will receive two players to be named later from the White Sox for Juan Pierre.
chisoxfan09
MLBTR has a link to an LA newspaper that the 2 prospects will be Players to be named later (PTBNL). I always wonder if this increases the value of the trade as you can see what you are getting for JP now but the Dodgres have to wait to get their return. Interesting. JPN366
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 10:47 AM) I will in heaven if those are the type of guys we gave up. The thing that scares me is that we got a bunch of cash. Even with the Dodgers paying part of the salary, I think they just wanted to unload him. So, McCulloch and Infante would be enough to part with Pierre. Plus, keep in mind the White Sox did the Dodgers a solid in the Thome deal. They got Thome for practically nothing, this is part 2 of that deal.
