League
This is pure speculation on my part, but I just read that Buster Olney has reported Mark DeRosa has dropped his contract demands to 3/18. If he drops even more, say to 3/15, I think the Sox could inquire. He seems to be exactly what Ozzie wants in a DH, the guy can play anywhere on the diamond and provides a better bat than any of our other candidates. He had a down year last season, but his two previous years were pretty great for OBP. He can play 1st, 2nd, 3rd and LF/RF. He just seems, to me anyway, like the guy we've heard about all season for DH.

southsider2k5
He'd be a fit according to our philosophy lately, but I doubt we'd drop that much cash right now.
spiderman
My guess would be that, if they sign a DH, it would be on a year deal, and not until the market is further reduced to those players looking for a job.
WCSox
QUOTE (spiderman @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 09:24 AM) My guess would be that, if they sign a DH, it would be on a year deal If Kenny had signed Thome and not traded for Pierre, I think that DeRosa in RF would've rounded out the lineup nicely. But right now, I think it's a lot more likely that Kenny would go after somebody like Thome or Dunn as a one-year rental at DH (the former being much more likely). chiguy79
Cubs will sign DeRosa after dumping Milty and eating his entire contract...and the Scrubs fans will be dancing on the streets!
MiddleCoastBias
QUOTE (chiguy79 @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 04:04 PM) Cubs will sign DeRosa after dumping Milty and eating his entire contract...and the Scrubs fans will be dancing on the streets! I would love to see that. After pushing DeRosa out on what could've been a cheaper contract had they kept him, they instead brought in Milton to eat their money and clubhouse morale, and then to bring in their old player at a higher cost? Love it.
