Kyyle23
I completely respect Roger Ebert and feel for him in regards to his tragic cancer complications, but when I watched the video of him and his wife testing out his new "voice" on the oprah network, I was very creeped out by his jaw moving with no bone in there. Such a cruel twist of fate to rob that man of his jaw and voice.

I know for a fact I'd be completely bitter, self-pitying and reclusive if that happened to me. Everything I've read and seen shows him determined to make the best of his life, and I think that's great. To have the technology and the resources for Roger to get even a simulated, pieced-together version of his voice back is amazing to me.

Yeah, that was very cool that they pieced together a voice out of his old At The Movies shows
lostfan
QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 10:10 PM) http://mashable.com/2010/02/17/facebook-unseats-yahoo/ Facebook overtakes Yahoo for #2 in most visited internet site. Google = #1 I blame it on Yahoo's new homepage. That thing is a clusterf***. Yahoo is even worse than Facebook with the unnecessary changes. I heard on WGN this morning that they couldn't use much of the TV show because there was always music or other voices involved, and that Roger found a bunch of audio commentary tracks he had done for DVDs (or documentaries or something like that) and they used those. Either way, an amazing thing, and wonderful for Roger and Chaz to be able to hear his voice again in any fashion.

Quin
Rereading Jennifer Government (or speed reading this time) One line that made me smile. "You got a radio in there? Can it get baseball games" "Yea, I'm listening to one right now" "Who's playing?!" "Yankees and White Sox" "You're ****ting me! The Sox are my team!" --- end happy part. HuskyCaucasian
Can someone explain to me in layman's terms what the difference between AWD and 4WD is? I bought a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe last with AWD last night and I am curious how it compares to a 4WD car.

G&T
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 11:15 AM) Can someone explain to me in layman's terms what the difference between AWD and 4WD is? I bought a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe last with AWD last night and I am curious how it compares to a 4WD car. Sqwert's link is the best explanation of the technical differences. I don't know what kind of AWD the Santa Fe has so I'll give you my take from experience: I've had a Pathfinder with 4WD, driven a Lexus RX with AWD, and a CR-V with automatic AWD. Brass tacks, in the snow, the 4WD is king followed by full time AWD and automatic AWD. Don't even think of off-roading an auto-AWD. That said, most people don't off-road. The CR-V handles very well in moderate snow. In a bad storm, I would take full time AWD. However, auto-AWD is a nice combination that offers the fuel efficiency of 2WD and the safety of AWD. But nothing is like throwing a Pathfinder into 4WD and and just plowing through a snow pile.

Here is what Edmonds has to say about the Santa Fe AWD: "All Santa Fe models are offered with either front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive powertrains. The electronically controlled AWD system automatically routes power to the wheels with the best traction. For improved performance in slippery or off-road conditions, a driver-selectable AWD lock provides a fixed 50/50 torque split between the front and rear wheels." In bad conditions you can lock in AWD and not worry about hitting an ice patch.
