Very strange thing happened this morning:

A high school sophomore (Maybe Jr?) that volunteers for the church I work for work up this morning completely disoriented. He has all his long term memory, but has no memory of the last week and didnt know what day it was. Very very weird.

I hope he went to the doctor. Most things that come to mind which might cause that are not good.

They took him to the hospital, but was discharged by noon.

UPDATE: I just talked to someone who has been in contact with him. They did blood work and CAT scans and everything came back normal. Apparently over time his short term memory came back. They are pretty sure he had some sort of seizure. But no cause has been found yet.

My girl is retiring-

Jennie Finch Retiring From Softball

Olympic gold medalist Jennie Finch announced Tuesday that she will retire next month, bringing an end to a 10-year career in which she helped softball blossom in the United States.

The dominating pitcher will play her final games with the U.S. national team this week at the World Cup of Softball in Oklahoma City. She'll then finish the rest of the National Pro Fastpitch season with the Chicago Bandits before calling it quits at the age of 29 to focus on her family.

The 6-foot-2 Finch was a standout at Arizona before becoming an icon with the U.S. team, going 32-0 her junior year and putting together 60 consecutive wins – both NCAA records. She won gold at the 2004 Olympics in Athens and silver four years later in Beijing.

This month, she helped the U.S. win its seventh straight world championship.

"This whole career has been way more than I ever even imagined or dreamed," Finch said in an interview with The Associated Press. "The opportunities that I'd be able to enjoy and appreciate and be a part of, it's been incredible."

Finch was much more than a pretty face as she took over for Lisa Fernandez as the most recognized player in a sport enjoying growing popularity. Her 60-game run stretched over nearly two years and included the 2001 WCWS title, a dominance that carried over to the national team, where she combined with the likes of Fernandez and Cat Osterman to make up the world's best pitching rotation through the early part of the decade.

"For Jennie Finch, she's a stud on the field and everyone's going to love her while she's playing but no one is going to forget her because of the person that she is," U.S. outfielder Jessica Mendoza said. "That is what she has over almost any other person that's at the top of their sport.

"She's the most popular person in our sport. How many other sports can you say that their most popular player is the best person to the fans than anyone else?"

Coupled with her softball skills, Finch's beauty and charm landed her a place in pop culture. She struck out some of the big leagues' best hitters in appearances on "This Week in Baseball," competed on "Celebrity Apprentice" and made the rounds on late-night talk shows.

I think she's retiring because she gave up a home run to MC Hammer in celebrity softball.

I go out of town for one god damn week and the sprouts of weeds think they are running the show. I come back and see these things grow to 3 feet tall and s***. Why do the weeds always live through droughts, come back when you accidentally step on them, and grow so much faster in fertile soil, while regular plants that I actually want to grow will wither away and die if I sneeze too hard near them?

I hear that. And everything's bigger in Texas.

A friend of my parents' woke up one morning and realized he couldn't remember his wife's or kids' names. After going to the hospital it was determined that he had a TIA (a mini stroke).

Reed Smith Partner Commits Suicide in Chicago

I have a friend that worked closely with this guy. Well adjusted...very much a family man and seemed perfectly fine. I guess he has had some anxiety recently and they gave him some meds...Paxil??. I have no idea if that contributed, but it sure sounds like it. This dude never takes the train. Always drives to work. Drove that day. For whatever reason left around lunch time...didn't take his BB or his wallet. Walked over to the washington station bought a ticket..went downstairs and jumped in front of a train. If he left his bb and stuff in his office, I'm assuming he knew what he was going to do when he left. Crazy s***.

I've heard of anxiety/depression meds making people suicidal. Which kind of sounds like an epic fail actually but I guess it really happens.

When the chemicals of your brain are altered that quickly, it can make you really not normal.

In my softball league tonight, I ended up ruining my pitchers perfect game when I made a throwing error at 3rd base. I really f***in suck at life.

Dont worry, you just prevented another perfect game from being recorded in just a ridiculous year.
