Joel
I think he would be great for us because of 3reasons. 1. he could come in and be our 5th starter.(an upgrade over Porzio who I now admit won't get it done.). 2. he has experience in the pen so if we make the playoffs he already knows how to deal with the bullpen and would not have to make an adjustment. And he would be a major upgrade over Glover in the 3rd righty role. 3. he probaly won't cost us much in terms of talent. They would either ask for some young pitching(Glover, Sanders, and maybe Rauch, or a young patient hitter.) So what do you think about adding Escobar. BTW like I said now I agree that Porzio won't get it done and agree that we can't relie on him to be our 5th starter much longer.
Loaiza21
Escobar, Garcia, Ponson, Stephenson, Suppan...The names are endless....But they come at a big price.
Jordan4life_2003
Escobar would be a nice one. I'm not gonna start throwin out a whole bunch of names of guys we can get. The trade deadline is Thursday. Will know by then. I just hope we play well in KC....
Joel
Escobar, Garcia, Ponson, Stephenson, Suppan...The names are endless....But they come at a big price. The thing I like about those guys over the other ones is that he has had experience in the bullpen. So if we make it to the playoffs he won't have to make a major adjustment there. The Bones
The trade deadline is Thursday. Will know by then. Isn't there a way for teams to keep trading after the deadline. I've seen this done in the past, but I'm not sure how it works.
dasox24
I heard the Red Sox are offering Casey Fossum for Escobar. I think they'd do that deal with Boston before one with us for Glover, Sanders, and/or Rauch.

If the Rsox are offering Fossum I think we can forget about any deal involving Escobar
southsider2k5
Well I agree with you there. If the Rsox are offering Fossum I think we can forget about any deal involving Escobar I sure as hell hope we don't get Escobar if the price is that high. Joel
I sure as hell hope we don't get Escobar if the price is that high. I agree that would mean we would have to give up Cotts and IMO thats to much for a 5th starter.

Not really Cotts because Boston might have overhyped Fossum. We would have to give a Felix Diaz type pitcher and to that I say N.O.

I'm not sure why so many people are so sold on getting Escobar...the guy is the definition of inconsistency. His WHIP always sucks, he has been God Awful at home this year, he has averaged almost a walk every other inning for his CAREER, I just think there HAS to be someone out there in AAA or AA that we can use to eat innings instead of going to get someone, and gicing up more minor league talent. Heads22
I thought that Epstien didn't want to give up Fossum for anyone....he would've traded for Colon but the Expos wanted Fossum, so he didn't do it....did I get that story right?
aboz56
Personally, I don't think you're gonna see a trade and you're gonna have to live with either Stewart, Rauch or possibly Diaz or Cotts as the 5th starter when we need one. I can live with that, as long as one of those guys can give us 5 or 6 innings without getting bombed... Looking around the rest of the AL, I'm not totally sold that any other team has a better top 4 than we do with the exception of Oakland. Buehrle, Loaiza, Colon and Garland when pitching well (which they have most of the year) is just downright filthy...

Yep, but stocks go up and they come down.
